I would track the cold bore shots but I don't know how well that would work since I'm always bouncing between the 69's and 77's. The group above was shot at 68 degrees 2919 ES 39 SD 14.

I don't think that model has the same glass as the Siii.  Only the 2.5-17 model does that I know of.

I don't think the sightron eye relief is worse than the vortex 6-24 hst I had.  The eyebox was horrible on the vortex.

I recently sold my NF benchrest 12-42 and got the Siii 8-32 and I'm very happy for half the price.  Its on a 223 but I have read it keeps zero very well on higher recoil rifles.

I only have a analog scale but it shows just slightly below 1lb.  I would guess around 10-14 oz

I use a tipton in my 223 and 35 whelen and it works like its supposed to.  No sense in spending tons of money for an expensive one.

9/16 unless you cut the barrel.  I cut my tikke 35 whelen to 16.5 and was able to use 5/8

I would be dropping the CTR in my XLR chassis which allows the use of the aics mag which allows for loading long.

Thanks for the input.  Is the 6.5×55 a long action?  One thing I like about the 260 is I can set it up as a long action and get a long action mag which allows me to load to the lands.  if the 6.5×55 is already a long action then I my not be able to load to the lands and have the rounds fit the magazine.

All you need to do is get a long action magazine for the 30-06 and then grind the bolt stop a little to allow the feeding from the mag.  By doing that you can now load your bullets long to the lands and they fit the mag.  I did this for my 7mm-08 and it has no issues with feeding and the bullets are touching the lands.

I wish I could get the 75gr Amax to shoot well in my Varmint at the loads yall are using but it will throw 1 of the three shots just about every time.  I've moved on to Sierra 77s but with those as well I haven't been able to get a steady group at the higher velocities in the high 24 and low 25s using varget.

it was the FL size die.  I backed it out 1 turn and now the bolt closes easily. Not sure why I can't do a FL size but o well it shoots .5 moa.  I had to do the same thing for my other tikka as well.

If the brass is once fired in the chamber is it required to bump the shoulder back.  I just got a collet die and thought the neck was the only thing required to be sized and trimmed if needed.  Wouldn't bumping the shoulder back just make it form to the chamber again hence causing stress on the case that's not needed?

I had my 30-06 rebored to a 35 whelen. 

I lube the inside of the neck on every 3rd or 4th case.  My decapper is set flush with the top nut.

Well I ended up backing the fl size die back some so it doesn't bump the shoulder and now it's better and I'm able to get 2.282 with 55gr amax.  The only thing I'm worried about is the neck is only getting halfway resized which might mess with my neck tension. 

Yeah the bolt is really tight to close.  I lost as if the lee fl size die doesn't form the shoulder correctly

That's what I used

You can just leave it long action.  My wife's t3 7mm-08 is running long and it feeds just fine.  Just slide the rounds to the back of the mag.

^^^ that would be the better option.  Plus I just checked the JES website and they only rebore 30 cal and above.

It would be very easy to just buy a 25-06 or a 270 and send it off to JES to get rebored to .280.  It will cost 250 I believe.  I had him bore a 35 whelen from a 30-06 and it shoots awesome groups.

I bore snake every gun I one including pistols.  My guns never get dirty enough to need anything more except for my muzzleloader.  I also have a bore snake exclusively for my muzzleloader for when I'm at the range checking zero.  Once I'm done at the range I use a brush and bore buster in the barrel.

Finally got a load worked up for the Whelen.

After much invested time, it shoots slightly better than the hornady ammo I have previously shot thorough the rifle.  Only difference is I'm using 250gr bullets instead of the 200gr that hornady uses. I can't wait to get my suppressor so I can try it out on her.
