How light have you gone with a stock T3 trigger?
Posted by Deleted User on March 16, 2016 at 11:33 pmI've got a T3 Sporter in .308 with about 400 rounds on it. I've shot steel and paper with it. Recently I've given F class shooting a try and it seems fun. I've already bought the YoDave spring which took it down to an even pound and is very crisp. I also shoot an Anschutz 54 action .22 and a FWB match air rifle, both have triggers in the low ounces, my trigger gauge won't even go low enough to test them. After shooting them the 1 pound trigger seems on the heavy side. How low have you guys gone safely with a T3 trigger? I'd love to get it to 8-10 ounces as it will be a dedicated target rifle.

It went out of production for a bit but I emailed the owner of X-Treme Shooting Products named Tom Myers. He told me due to increased interest they are updating the design and expect to reintroduce it this Summer. He couldn't give me the minimum pull but said it would be at least as low as 1 pound. He said it would be a 2 stage trigger with a differential of just 3oz between the stages which should make it feel lighter. My stock trigger is a very crisp 1 pounds but I think since its such a crisp trigger it feels harder than it is, I would actually guess closer to 2 pounds if I didn't have a gauge.

I use Earnie the gunsmith varmint springs when I want to lighten tikka springs. I have 3 Tikkas with those springs and they work great.
What I don't have is a trigger pull measurement tool. -

For comparison, my F-Open rifle is 7 oz. My F-TR Tikka's are at 1# with Jard triggers, and my LR hunting Tikka's are at 1-1/2# to 1-3/4# with factory triggers and factory springs. I have a dozen Ernie's springs I need to throw in one of these days, and see what the difference feels like.

i ordered two of the yodave springs and used one as a tester. I ended up not needing the extra one because after cutting a few coils off my trigger was where I needed it. its sub 1lb but to be exact im not sure.
I ended up cutting a few coils off to where the trigger wouldn't function with the adjustment all the way out then I turned it in until it started to work and added 1/2 turn for reliability.
I have about 1k rounds through the rifle and never had a issue. This gun only for paper punching.

I only have a analog scale but it shows just slightly below 1lb. I would guess around 10-14 oz

The YoDave T3 / Quad spring will take the pullweight down to 9-10 oz. I put one on my Super Varmint (which also has the set-trigger) and the trigger is a thing of Beauty now at the “non-set” mode.
I´ve had YoDave´s spring on my Quad a couple of years (in fact it was my friend and i who asked YD to make them and we send him a Quad OEM spring for measurements 😉 ) and with polished trigger internals and moly powder the Quad pull weight is around 7-8 oz. Nice and crisp.
