Match Quality Barrels
Posted by mercury68 on February 20, 2016 at 11:43 amJust geting back into shooting after a 25 year absence so after looking around I decided on the T3 Varmint .308 as a starter into the long range target shooting scene.
What I would like to know is who are the good barrel manufacturers for the T3 .308 as I would to eventually increase the barrel length from the 23 3/4″ to about 26″.

Hi welcome back , the T3 shoots so well you might not need to replace the barrel ,

Bartlein and Brux are very good.
Long Rifles Inc fitted mine and installed an integrated lug when they fitted the barrel

You won't find anyone that makes barrels “for” the T3, but any custom barrel can be made to fit.
I have a Krieger on mine that shoots extremely well.

Jason,
What does it cost for a barrel and install?

I have them but haven't put them on the site yet. We have 20 cal through 375 cal (for those 375 Ruger builds)

You can check them out and our chambers at http://www.tikkaperformance.com
Wow it's costing me £720 for a 6.5 creedmoor barrel rifle , you need to move to England he he

If you're going to re-barrel, look at the Bartlein 5R and the Lilja barrels. Might as well have the action tried and blueprinted while you're at it. The next custom rifle I have built will likely be built on a Tikka action. I've shot a couple with Bartlein and Lilja barrels and they were awesome!

Bartlein and Lilja barrels are excellent. Can't go wrong, accept they don't offer the correct profile for a Tikka.
Our barrel line came from the fact that customers were annoyed and the fact that we need to modify their barrel contours to make them fit.
After a barrel has been hand lapped, you don't want to modify the contour for fear of releasing internal stress and ruining the bore.
I don't have a 6.5BR reamer, but the 6.5x47L would be similar and have better ballistics.

I noticed you don't show 223 as well. Do you have that reamer?

Jason,
Does a straight taper give any added benifit over your varmint taper besides extra weight?
