Had no idea
Posted by WGK on July 30, 2015 at 1:23 amI am new to tikka rifles and have been bummed because they don't offer 280 as a caliber. Found out the other day that tikka made some 280 in a 695 back years ago for the Rocky Mtn Elk Foundation. Does anyone know where a man might get his hands on one of these rifles.

It would be very easy to just buy a 25-06 or a 270 and send it off to JES to get rebored to .280. It will cost 250 I believe. I had him bore a 35 whelen from a 30-06 and it shoots awesome groups.

………. or ream a 7mm-08 to 7mm-08 Improved, which will be easier and cost less. Kenny Jarrett reckons its one of his favourite cartridges. What about a .284 Win from a 7mm-08 as another option?

This not a bad idea at all. Now I just need to know who JES is and how to contact them/him.

Why rebore when you can ream 7mm-08 to .280 for far less?
