Thats great velocity at 2900fps +…..Im shooting the same projectile weight (Accubond) with 66.6grs of H4831sc and getting approximate 2825 out my T3 300wsm Lite and 2850 out of my T3 300wsm Varmint…

If your gun is shooting that well, might be something you don't want to mess with, lol…
If you get a good fitting Boyds stock with no issues I can't really see it hurting the accuracy any especially if you know what you are doing and it already is shooting well.

This is a great before and after thread on shooting accuracy for sure.  Try to provide some feedback if you change the stock out.

Don't think you will notice any improvement in the way the gun shoots unless its not shooting well with the current factory stock, and the stock is at fault of course.

My 2 T3 223's still have the original factory synthetic stocks and shoot as well as I can hope for…
But Boyds seems to have increased their quality lately, have not heard any recent compliants so if you just want to dress up the gun you can't go wrong for the price.

I found consistent shoulder / trimming helped my reloading accuracy…I F/L resize all my brass and use trimmers that work off the shoulder like this one… “Little Crow trimmer”

You will have to play with setting depth…But this is what I normally do for my 223…

I just basically load a dummy round with the desired projectile to max OAL to fit the mag and then chamber it to see if the bolt will cycle…if it does not cycle I back off in .010 increments till the bolts cycles easily…usually its .030 – .050 off the lands depending on the projectile shape.  That gives me trouble free field shooting for predator hunting. I'm never touching or jamming the lands with my reloads to avoid a sticky or heavy bolt in the field.

For longer projectiles in the 75-80gr + range I use a modified factory mag that gives me an additional .25″ on the length to achieve optimal setting depth for load development, mostly these are target rounds.
Same process applies. Dummy round into or touching the lands then back off till bolt cycles easily and then test setting depth…usually i'm .030 off the lands for best accuracy.

The most accurate load I've worked up using Win 748…for 223
This load would shoot 1/4″-1/2″ groups on any given day @ 100yrds.

Rifle – T3 223 Lite (8 twist)
Coal – 2.275″
Brass – Hornady
Primer – CCI Br4
Projectile – Hornady 55gr Vmax or Nosler 55gr BT Spitzer
Powder – 25.8 – 26grs
Velocity – 2900/2925 fps

If you can get your hands on some Varget…try 25.5grs with either the 55gr Vmax or 55gr FMJ-BT…I load so they just fit the factory mag…another sub moa load for my rifles…

I have not found a better powder for accuracy…

I'm shooting a 180gr Accubond at 2800-2850fps  with 66-67gr of H4831sc…
If you are set on 3000fps I would not start with this powder…I would look at H4350 first, it should be about 100-150fps faster with the same charge weight…

Nothing wrong with the 150gr Partition…great bullet.

I have not personally shot an Elk, but have used and seen the results with a 150gr Barnes TTSX on Moose and large Black Bear…I would not have a problem using these on Elk out to about 400-450yrds out a 7mm rem mag…Something to consider if you wanted a solid bullet and the range is comparable to what you hunt / shoot most animals.

If you are shooting further I would look at the new 162gr Eldx from Hornady…you will still get great expansion out to 600-700yrds if you have the experience to take a shot like that.

Thats just my 2 cents but hope it gives you some help, sorry I could not offer more Elk experience.

Barnes TTSX or The Federal Trophy Copper have done really well for me and the boys on Whitetails, Mulies and even Moose and Black Bear at close ranges.  DEADLY in the 0-300yrd range, exactly like Jack suggested.
The energy that these projectiles dump into an animal while expanding at close ranges is devastating.
Velocity is key though…don't use it for long range hunting.

Barnes TTSX is my go to for 308 & 300wsm when hunting thick bush.  If i'm hunting large open valleys and big swamps I'm loaded with 180gr Accubonds or the new Hornady 178gr ELDx…May switch all reloading to ELDx projectiles when I run out of Accubond…they do seem to hold together better.

I would not go over 50inch lbs of pressure on any NON-pillar bedded synthetic stock.

Don't think it matters on the direction on the bevel due to the tight tolerances…from what i know its only a relief to stop the lug from binding on the stock when you are inserting. Mine did not come with any instructions on this and its not mentioned anywhere with specifics.

48inch lbs is a little more then what most of us are using on the synthetic and wood stocks…I set mine to a max of 45inch lbs…experimented from 35inch lbs, then 40, and found 45inch lbs helped with improving accuracy on an already great shooting load.  Good experiment if you hand load and find a good combo.
Sometimes going down or slightly up in torque on the action screws helps the node accuracy.

What 3rd screws are you refereeing to?  2 action screws yes….
Where are you getting the torque specs from?
