Check out this guy and what he's done with a 243, you will not be sacrificing accuracy….
TiborasaurusRex (youTube)…It will put your mind as ease, search for his 243 videos.

Then watch this video…I trust anything John says, he gives great information on the pros and cons of using a 243 for competition shooting…https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u70fExPJ0t0

The Ares BTR 2.5-15×50 MOA FFP is something I've been looking at for a hunting rifle…its seems to be the perfect scope for any situation…I like everything about the product.

Let us now how the new scope performs…

Hi Chris…I think backing off the die is your issue… instead you should be screwing it down by 1/8 inch increments bumping the shoulder back…I think thats where you are having your issues…check out this link to see if you are doing the steps in the die setup correctly…https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PIO37hANQlY

Also…are you resizing the “new” winchester cases as well?
If you are, and the die is set wrong, its all makes sense with what you are experiencing.

Have you tried chambering an empty case into the rifle after you resize it? That will rule out a few thing right away.  If the bolt throw is heavy or sticky then you have an issue with the die setup.

Try a 55 or 60gr Nosler BT Spitzer round in your barrel over 25 – 25.5 grains of Varget or 26-27grains of CFE.

They seem to stabilize pretty well in all T3 barrels with minor tinkering in this powder range.
One of the best projectiles you can use for all around performance.
In good weather we routinely shoot 4″ clay targets out to 500yrds (fun in the wind but not so routinely).

Thats great shooting and good work on developing the load. WELL DONE.
Feels good when it prints groups like that!

Is your die set right?  Sounds like you may have a shoulder issue versus a seating / OAL issue…
I've had none of the issues you are experiencing and I have loaded the exact same combo with CFE…

    My load data:

    26.8grs CFE
    60gr Nosler BT
OAL 2.7″ (pretty much max mag length)

Works in both my T3 Lite and T3 Varmint

I'm sitting hear here crying watching this cost go down and I can't take advantage of it…Stupid border laws!!!

At this cost you are basically getting the stock and bottom metal for free…the mags cost this much alone.

Good luck hope it sells soon.

Great looking Pup Eric…makes me really miss my yellow lab.
Its such a great feeling bringing a new pup into the home…a house is completely empty without a dog!

My Drahthaar pup is just over a year now, we just completed his VGP testing…We tied for 3rd at the event.  He's turning out to be quite the hunter…going to make me fat just sitting in the duck blind now…lol.
I'm sure your girl will be awesome in the wet stuff.

Keep sending pictures of Pearl as she grows.

    Cheers!

I like the advice on the 165gr Nosler partition…

    Also…
165gr Barnes TSX or TTSX as been a solid performer for me and my hunting buddies out of a 308…
If Black Bear and Moose drop with this bullet I can't see why it would not work on Elk.
It a great bullet with a max range of about 350-400yrds from my experience in a 308, velocity is to low for good expansion after that, its devastating on large game inside 350yrds with good shot placement.

Tikka Shooters Forum favicon icon 105 Bullseyes

Pretty common with the synthetic stocks, some are better then others with clearance in the barrel channel.

Shoot it first and if good its up to you if you want to play with.  I've found my Tikka rifles all shoot better on  consecutive shots with free floated barrels right to the action. Especially the big calibers when barrel heats up quick.

Thanks for posting that Larkin. Have not visited their store site for awhile so didn't know it was available.
Looks like a good bottom metal.
