What Round for Elk with 7mm Rem. Mag
I'm new to elk hunting and the Tikka T3 Light 7 mm Rem Mag, I will be hunting the Oregon & Washington coast and shooting 200 yrds or less. I'm thinking about shooting the Nosler partition 150 gr or a Trophy Grade 160gr another round would be the Hornaday Super Formance SST 154gr or the Hornaday Inter Bond 154gr. Would like to know what some of you elk hunters are shooting when shooting under the 300yrd range or on the coastal area. all thoughts greatly appreciated.

Nothing wrong with the 150gr Partition…great bullet.
I have not personally shot an Elk, but have used and seen the results with a 150gr Barnes TTSX on Moose and large Black Bear…I would not have a problem using these on Elk out to about 400-450yrds out a 7mm rem mag…Something to consider if you wanted a solid bullet and the range is comparable to what you hunt / shoot most animals.
If you are shooting further I would look at the new 162gr Eldx from Hornady…you will still get great expansion out to 600-700yrds if you have the experience to take a shot like that.

I have the T3X lite stainless in 7mm RM.
Being a fan of the VLD hunting bullet from Berger, I tried this one:
HSM brand 7mm Remington Magnum 168 gr. VLD hunter Ammo – available from HSM. It is a nice factory load, not overpriced, and shot sub moa at the range.The rifle was a backup ( TSA and baggage handlers) to my 300WM, in which I used ABM's 185 gr Berger VLD hunting bullet to success on bulls twice, once at 380 yds, and again at 320 yds. Oddly, the 380 yarder was a one shot instant kill with an exit wound, while the one at shorter distance got 2 shots in quick succession, neither of which exited, but the bull was down quickly.
