Those are some nice groups!  Sounds like you're hooked.  I've got one Tikka in 22-250 and love it.  I keep thinking I'm going to get another Tikka but haven't done it yet.

I've never heard of any problem with the lugs holding back the high pressure cartridges.  I think the main difference between the 2 lug and 3 lug is the 3 lug bolt has less of a bolt rotation.  Something like a 60 degree lift instead of a 90 degree lift.

It's really up to you.  You won't hurt it to break it in.  You might even make it easier to clean.

As far as I know if you want a different barrel on a Tikka you have to buy a barrel blank and then have a gunsmith thread and chamber it.  The barrel would be $300 – $450 and the gunsmith work would be $350 – $550.

Excellent!  How far along are you with break-in?  It doesn't look like the water is frozen.  I was out on the range this morning in 18 degree weather.  It was a bit chilly.

I would be interested in the answer to this question as well.

I don't know the answer but I would guess it's because people have been wanting a faster twist in the .223 so they could use heavier bullets.  That usually gets you a higher BC and therefore less wind drift.
