Building a 260 vs buying factory?
I'm looking at adding a new gun to my collection. It will be mainly varmint and target with some deer hunting from a stand off a rest or bipod. Threaded barrel.
I like the 260 rem for its low recoil and wind bucking ability.
I find 308 case variants in t3 models under 500 bucks. I'm not sure what is involved in changing barrels but I have built a couple ar15s.
Curious if an aftermarket barrel would shoot better than a factory tikka?
I would like .5 moa. I really like the MDT LSS chassis…..So my question is should I just find a gun chambered in 260 with a threaded barrel and change the stock at some point, or rebarrel a cheaper bought gun? I'm having a hard time with price vs advantage.

As far as I know if you want a different barrel on a Tikka you have to buy a barrel blank and then have a gunsmith thread and chamber it. The barrel would be $300 – $450 and the gunsmith work would be $350 – $550.
