The tak a1 break is huge and I hate it. It works well but I have a couple of suppressors that I prefer. And I know of some better that are smaller.

If you buy a Tac a1 plan to buy a suppressor or a better slimmer brake.

If the original failed then definitely get it replaced

If you understand the aftermarket then buy a replacement

I will say that it’s hard to find and perhaps looking on ammo seek might be the best source.

I have a hundred rounds of Winchester bargain ammo on hand but unless you reload it would not help you much

I hunted with 185 gr magnum loads and regretted it. If you are not hunting elk or moose then use 150- 165 gr bullets , but mainly hunt with most accurate bullets. Tikkas are 1:11 twist in 30 cal. Use 150-180 gr bullets

Ok I have 8 tikkas and 6 scopes (I have more but these are best)
I hate that I have to sight in so many times
Get a good scope for a good rifle and you are golden

If you have the 1:12 twist your best accuracy will be with 55 gr and lighter.
You had some nice groups but you will not see the accuracy you want with heavier bullets.
My opinion, the best test is your experience.

Yea you might get a doughnut, but this won’t happen in less than what? 6-8 reloads min? Your primer pockets will relax long before you need to deal with reaming necks due to “doughnuts” if your loading hot enough to worry.

I have 6 tikkas and I have picatinny rails on all of them so I can swap scopes

I along with my buddy tried to range a deer while snow was falling
He took a shot thinking target was 400 yds when it was closer to 300
He shot high and sent the next 4 rounds over its back
We saw the big buck later that day at about 1200 yds so hopefully it spread it’s genetics

Is there any reason you wish to avoid the picatinny rail scope mount?

I hear that regarding the lrm. I am still leaning to the 7 practical because of the quality of the brass.  Gunwerks is a good outfit but adg brass in 300 WM is so much better according to reviews.  All that said I don’t have a really motivating choice to choose lrm.

I’m not certain spur mounts are worth the money.  I am certain they are very good but $250 for rings? What is going wrong with your rings that makes this price worth it? I’m honestly asking

Muzzle velocity will impact stability.  Faster mv = faster spin for a given twist.  The issue is the distance you intend to shoot I believe.  Spin rate decays over time and atmospheric conditions make a big difference in stability.  Find one of Brian litz’s books on ballistics and read up. The question is why do you want a shorter barrel?
If you plan to hunt deer at 3-400 yds there is no reason you should not cut the barrel down to 20” or even 18”.  I have debated this with myself since I use a suppressor and shorter would make handling much easier with an 8” suppressor attached.  The checklist might include:

You are correct!
The 1:11 twist of the 30 calibers are somewhat limiting.
I have a 30-06 with an 11 twist and I don’t load over 185 grns
If I had a stock 300 WM I’d keep the Bullet weight below 200 grns.
Same is true for the 7mm
Keep the bullets lighter, maybe 160 max which will perform well.  The 7mm heavies will not shoot well.

The chetac is an extreme long range round.  If you are looking to hit paper at 1 mile I would encourage you.
My longest target it 930 yds and my longest game target is about 6-700 yds with high vel 6.5 cartridges.

I am looking for a lightweight hunter stock also.
The only bell & Carlson stock I’ve tried was on a friends rifle and it seemed to be a bit difficult to wrap my thumb around.  I don’t know which model I was trying but I would like any feedback regarding a B&c stock with a more vertical grip

That 260 will shoot to 700 yds and still perform on game with the right Bullet.  I would get a mill dot type scope variable to 16 at least

Don’t get the heavies for the Tikka 7mm mag – 168 is prob the upper limit given the factory twist and good accuracy. Not sure about the monolithic bullets but lighter is usually better accuracy wise

Damaged Bullet tips are not generally the fault of the magazine in the sense that other magazines would prevent damage.  If for example a magazine was designed to prevent forward movement, it would be so tight it would not feed properly in a Tikka action.  I have never had this problem in my Tikka’s and would like to hear more about your symptoms

I shot my deer this year with my Tikka T3 (new but old stock) 7mm rem in a berserk stock.  I didn’t have time to work up a load so used factory federal 150 gr ammo.  Terrible ammo but could still do 1” once at 100 yds.  Usually 2”

I have 2 suppressors from the newly named silencercentral. What I have is the same as the “banish” line made by mak bro’s I believe.  Totally happy with my supresssors from them. I have 3 including a rimfire one.
Do not go through the hassle of getting a tax stamp for a cheap suppressor. Get a good one on the first go-round is my advise
