NO….the mag will not seat properly. I've tried this test before with a standard 308 Battue action on my CTR 308 platform…

The slot cut out of the CTR receiver allows the TRG mag to angle slightly more upward at the front allowing the mag to function properly with the proper feed ramp/angle.

You can however assemble a gun with the CTR stock/bottom & standard T3 action,…the mag will even insert and clip into place but it will be slightly angled downward and the rifle will not feed rounds, the ramp angle is changed and it jams when trying to cycle the bolt.

The only way around it is to mill the action or play with altering the mag to change the seating angle. 
I myself have not tried to alter the $200 mag…but it may be possible.

I've tried to do exactly what you are asking for my 300wsm….install the standard 300wsm action on the CTR stock and bottom metal…the 308 TRG mag will hold 5rds of 300wsm perfectly with a longer coal, only issue being the feed angle again…it doesn't work.  Thats why Tikka milled the slot…its specific to the bottom metal and TRG mag functioning properly,…I think it on purpose to prevent the two actions from being interchangeable on the CTR platform.

Sorry man forget to answer that question…

The CTR bottom metal is wider then the standard T3 or T3x plastic bottom.  They are 2 different inlets.
They are not interchangeable this way without milling.

I have not tested it but I have heard from a reliable source that the forearm modular piece will fit on on all T3 stocks…only the checkering/ grip being different, just drill a hole in the regular stocks to secure it at a screw/ bolt point.

The guys have mentioned some good brakes for recoil reduction but I have throw the Vais style brake into the mix if you are looking for the best screw on brake for both accuracy and recoil reduction.
For me it's proved to provide the best accuracy time and time again and it does not need to be timed like other ported brakes…not the greatest for pron off the ground but great for bench shooting.

I tested many different types on my 308 CTR and 300wsm and both now sport Vais style brakes…

Nice. What is your total cost estimate for the final “budget build” package? If you don't mind me asking..

About $3500.00 CAN for the total parts list…including gun and scope.
The scope might not fit everyones budget build, but I believe you have to spend at least $1000+ to get a decent scope these days…

very nice rig!  All you need now is a non-dyed bolt shroud!

How do you like the Vortex HSLR?

I have the same bolt handle and love it!

The scope is great for the price…its the second HSLR I've bought in the last 2 years.
The glass is not as good as NF at high magnification but you can't beat the price with the no hassle lifetime warranty.  Box test confirms they track well and clicks are solid.

The bolt handle is such a great buy for fit and finish.  Really can't go wring with the purchase.

It's just a Magpul polymer 5 slot rail, works great mounted to the T3 synthetic stock, just drill and run bolts straight through.  Have them on all my T3 rifles and have not had a failure or breakage in any condition.
Very durable and goes perfectly with the synthetic stock.

Every business will have that one costumer you just simply can't please.  Usually its the individual himself or his /her attitude that gets in the way of good customer service or a resolution to a problem.

For gods sakes people this is the gun community…things take time.  Sometimes you have to be patient for a part or delivery.

I for one really appreciate having a person / company that provides the forum we chat on, with a store that provides excellent service and top quality parts.

Keep up the good work Jason, you can't please everyone.  I run a business as well and its not great when someone has a bad experience, best thing to do is learn from it and move on.  Don't dwell on it, usually these people come back after they experience sub par service from somewhere else.  Then they realize the value of pervious relationships.

Great response Eric,…good info.

I've switched all my reloading primers to CCI for pretty much the same issues you are experiencing.
If you haven't tried them give them a shot.

All small caliber rifles – Br4
All large caliber rifles – Br2
300wsm – 250 magnum

Its solved my problems with max loads…not saying they are the best, but I like them.

Check pinch points for stock / barrel contact….any irregular torque on the forend would account for what you are experiencing…if you place the rifle differently or pressure the front of the stock in any way on the front bag differently this will happen and not uncommon.  The rifle may also double group alot…

If you have no pinch points causing the problem then it could be other things…but if its capable of good groups and shooting good groups on occasion it usually related to shooter error or stock related problems.
If is a new rifle I'd clean before shooting each ammo type…especially if you are mixing in copper solids…
