My longest hunting kill with them is approximate 300yrds on deer size game.  No issues, bullet performs best at the 200-500yrds ranges with the way they open up.  Under 200yrds, they just seem pass through leaving pin holes on lung shots.

Its a really accurate bullet.  I've killed many unsuspecting rocks out to about 800yrds with them…LOL, even a few nasty stumps have been killed due to my hitchy trigger finger.

Very easy bullet to load with!  I've loaded them for my buddies 30-06 using Varget.  I'll see if I can find the load data for you.  If I recall correctly it shot the best near max load with about a .040 jump to the lands.

Appreciate the update.  I have yet to start loading for my tikka 300 Wsm.  Have you used the Nosler lr on big game?

Have only used the 190gr LR for target shooting.  Expensive for paper or steel but wanted to develop a load for hunting… at same that I do plan on using for hunting.

Even though I have a load for them I've stuck with the regular 180gr Accu for all the hunting I do…
A tradition for me now when September rolls around is to load my “666” load…
66.6grs of H4831sc + “Nickel” plated Winchester brass + 180gr Accubond.  Its brought me some great luck and as allowed me to harvest 5 deer and 1 bear in the last 2 hunting seasons.  It gives me all the confidence I need to make any shot.

Fresh reloads look so pretty sitting in the case…

200 ELD-x's are a bust for T3 300WSM….ogive is different from the 208 Amax which actually shot pretty well single loading. HOPEFULLY the 208 ELD “match” shots like the old 208 Amax.  Will test later.

You have to seat the ELD-x way too far in the case before the bolt will cycle.
I'll stick to the 208 Amax and Nosler 190 LrAccubond for long range shooting for now till I run out.

37grs looks more promising to me…you have only .25″ – .5″ vertical dispersion on a 3 shot group.

Depending on what the setting depth was for the loads you tested…TRY reducing your setting depth with 37grs by .010 increments…if the groups tighten up you are going in the right direction.  If it opens move closer to the lands by .010 increments…

I'd continue to add powder in .5gr increments…you may find another node between 39-42grs…Max charge weight is around 45grs so you have alot of room to play yet.  Then play with setting depth.

Eric is right…the action and barrels should be interchangeable.

The only difference I'm aware of on the compact is the LOP…its shorter.
Pretty sure all stocks have identical length from the trigger guard forward.
The Compact has a 12.5″ LOP and other stocks are 13.2-13.5″ depending on spacers.
The Compact should come with spacers as an option to change the LOP to regular stock length.

Bad machining from factory?  Makes you wonder about their accuracy test guarantee….if they tested the rifle they should have caught the problem.

I like both, and have both….the straight handle cycles faster and easier IMO…but swept looks better on the rifle.

The 60gr Nosler is pretty much the only bullet under 75grs I shoot out of both 8 twist 223's I have.
The factory Nosler rounds you can by with this bullet is excellent ammo!
I hand load the same 60gr Nosler + 25.5grs Varget…very accurate on my rifles.

Correct me if I'm wrong but are all the ones I listed above NOT live ammo?  As a complete newbie, I thought they were and just looked “funny/different ” but after reading reviews they seem to be for reloading.

Back to searching for some LIVE ammo that I can buy/order online to try until I take the plunge into reloading my own. 
Shall I just try anything that is for .223 and with a grain of 55-70?

It is live ammo…anybody selling Hornady will have it for sure.  It's very popular for predator hunting….
You can also get the “Z-Max as well, same bullet but packaged in Zombie green tips….

Theres a lot of knowledge here on the forum…better than the Manuel!  Should be able to find anything thing you need here in terms of advice.

My guns like 168-180gr factory rounds, 150's are good too but not nearly as accurate across the board. 
If you are a handloader, this rifle will be a dream for you.  Very easy to dial in a load…my guns love +/- 45grs of Varget and just about any projectile in the 168-180gr range.

You can always press and hold the trigger when you cycle the bolt…you won't need to dry fire it and it prevents the firing pin from going into a firing / cocked position,…just a tip to help save some wear on your firing pin & spring when working on the gun and storing it.

The Hornady puller works well, I used one with my Lock N Load press…you will like it.

This is the best video I could find showing how it works.  I just recently started using it in the new year and love how it has multiple calibers with no press or die adjustments. No damage to projectiles.
