65 grain Sierra game king would do the job!
I have 3 8 twist .223 Tikka's. The Super Varmint I shoot in F-TR competition is shooting 80 grain Berger VLD's into moa at 600 yards.
One of my T3 Lites shoots 50, 55, 60, and 65 grain bullets all at 1/2 moa to 200 yards. I haven't shot it any farther…

Yep, you got one of the “much sought after” 8 twist .223's!
Beretta just recently switched the twist rate on our .223's to 1 in 10. Congrats on your find.

I doubt very many of us, if any, have any experience with a 12 twist Tikka, or Sako brass. So how can we give you any advice? Don't get all knotted up! 😉
Besides…we shoot 100 yards over here. ;D

Here's one I did a little while ago. When I moved pics around in my photo bucket account, they got deleted. At the end of the post, there are a couple pics of the finished product. Some day I'll re-do it and put new pics in. But if you read it, it'll give you what you asked for…..step by step instructions.

I use Krylon paint, and Krylon webbing paint. It comes in a can, you just spray it on.
The procedure is more detailed than I want to get into here.
Basically, clean the stock, sand it, paint it, spray webbing, topcoat it with matte clear, then give it plenty of time to dry. At least a month.

I've painted some of my stocks with a base color, then webbing on top. Then I went the McMillan route. I'm going back to the factory stock–for synthetic.
If you are looking at a synthetic stock, maybe try your hand at painting yours! If you're looking for a wood stock, Jason…here at this site, and also at Mountain Tactical, has some nice stocks for Tikka's.

Beretta has recently switched the twist rate on new Tikka .223's to 10 twist. The older ones (prior to last year) are 1 in 8.

Did you pull the barreled action out of the stock and see if the side of the safety is rubbing? It's not very likely, but a small possibility.

I'm a firm believer in consistency and believe in torque spec(s).
Maybe I just got lucky with mine and maybe there really is a torque spec, but I think you can do far worse than just keeping them “tight”.
So, which is it?……………..Thanks for the advice.

ramboy–at least you can be pretty sure it'll be a shooter! I've NEVER heard of a .223 Tikka that wasn't a hammer. I wish you the best of luck getting, then shooting your new TAC .223. Looking forward to the reports when you get it.
