Best Place For Aftermarket Stock
Posted by Outhuntin on December 2, 2013 at 6:30 pmI have a tikka t3 243 and am thinking about getting a new stock to pretty it up. I have a stainless barrel and was wanting to get a regular hunting stock that is webbed. Something similar to the weatherby stocks. Where would you guys recommend going that has competitive prices?
Thanks

I've painted some of my stocks with a base color, then webbing on top. Then I went the McMillan route. I'm going back to the factory stock–for synthetic.
If you are looking at a synthetic stock, maybe try your hand at painting yours! If you're looking for a wood stock, Jason…here at this site, and also at Mountain Tactical, has some nice stocks for Tikka's.

Ya i like the synthetic route. What type of paint and what would the procedure be as far as coats? What would your suggestions be for paint and procedure for webbed?
Thanks

I use Krylon paint, and Krylon webbing paint. It comes in a can, you just spray it on.
The procedure is more detailed than I want to get into here.
Basically, clean the stock, sand it, paint it, spray webbing, topcoat it with matte clear, then give it plenty of time to dry. At least a month.

Do know of a thread that goes through the process step by step that you could point me towards?

Here's one I did a little while ago. When I moved pics around in my photo bucket account, they got deleted. At the end of the post, there are a couple pics of the finished product. Some day I'll re-do it and put new pics in. But if you read it, it'll give you what you asked for…..step by step instructions.

I ordered a Bell and Carlson from Stockys that seems pretty nice. At least it looks good. Whether it shoots good remains to be seen. Not enough time at the range yet. I will post some picture soon. Price was fair and shipping was free.
