Get it rebarreled for 300 + barrel from longbarrels in texas. I would buy the barrel from bugholes.com (great guy to deal with). I originally bought two from them but I had a change in heart because the cost to do two barrels is 600 total. I bought a criterion barrel for my savage and had those two krieger barrels spun up instead – I'll stay with my savages – no sense in messing something already so perfect. Traded my 308 for another Savage 30-06 so that ends my love affair with Tikkas ;(
FYI, my tikka was a tac driver – just like my savages. I just wanted something new to play with. Cheer!

This topic is old i know… 700+ views and no one replied. Hmmm I don't have this scope but I do have the prostaff, buckmaster, and then the monarch. They all work great! The monarch is my favorite by far because the POI etched in the glass fills the whole scope, the prostaff and buckmaster does not. They work well and hit targets out to 600 yards as advertised.
Now the m-308 – i wouldn't care for it because it's tailored to just one bullet. You can't shoot other bullets with it unless you don't mind not having round and even numbers (200,300,400,500yrds etc). Currently, I have a zeiss 800 reticle and let me tell you, this reticle fits the bill for any and all ammo extremely well. It's by far my favorite BDC scope.

I'm going to go ahead and say 208 amax 😉 I'm getting a new barrel in 308 just for that purpose (it will shoot the lower grs as well – just throated a little deep for the 208s).

Take what ever velocity you find on the net and subtract 25fps for every inch of barrel you don't have. The majority of the vendors test their velocity with a 24″ barrel. I find that to be pretty accurate somewhat when shooting stock ammo. For example… 16″ carbine shooting 308 168gr amax at 2460fps vs my 24″ shooting the same ammo, gets 2660fps. That's 25fps per inch of lost fps. Those were handloads and are pretty consistent. Cheers

I bet they took it out of the stock and put it in a vice and shot it. Then said it was okay ;(
Look into a new stock. perhaps have a buddy let you borrow his for the day and head out to the range.
You can buy mine as soon as it gets back from the factory. I have had nothing but nightmares with this rifle, shoots all over the place. Beretta charged me $70 to check the rifle for accuracy and found nothing wrong with it. I used 4 different brands of ammo and grains, shot from a rest, checked the crown, action screw torque, recoil lug, used 3 different scopes and 2 different mounts etc etc. Best I could do was 6″ groups and they were very inconsistent. At worst it was shooting completely off paper. I dont get it. I feel bad once I get it back selling it to someone or trading it.

looks nice! Love the BC stock. I have the same color but in win70 and savage 10. Will get one for the tikka as well.

Our chambers are that deep for these 208s?
I have a 308 load for long stuff…
Be careful- it's not in any manuals. It's probably smart to start lower than I did with your charge weights.
The cartridge length is important with this one, too- gotta be 3″ plus to fit all the powder in there. 3.004″ is just where my seater wants to put em, and I'm not going to complain given its performance.
208 amax in CBC brass (don't laugh- they work!) over 48.3 grains of Reloader 17 & cci br2's- loaded at 3.004″ coal. I started @ 48 grains & worked up to 49 (popped a primer there & backed off). I ran 48.5 grains for awhile at 2640 fps, but it would pop primers if I fired more than 10-15 rounds in a string. It was holding .5-ish moa with that load. I backed it down to 48.3 & now it's .18 moa- I haven't chrono'd it since, but the dope hasn't changed out to 430 yards.
It's really hard on critters- they've all fallen over on the spot- no trackingThere's a bit of recoil with this one- just sayin…
