My first bolt gun, a T3 Compact
Posted by josephwilson86 on December 16, 2014 at 1:30 amHey guys, I've attached a pic of my new T3 Compact. Picked it up at Sportsmans Warehouse in Phoenix. My intention is to get good enough to go on my first hunting trip ever sometime next year.
The bipod is from Blackhawk, and the scope is a Vortex Viper.
In a few months (assuming oil prices come back up) I'll get some extra money together to have it painted some kind of dessert camo, mainly because it'll look cool.
I'll post up a pic of my first groups once I figure this forum out a little better lol…
So far I've put 80 rounds through it, I've enjoyed it so far and am looking forward to getting back out to the range when I get home. I've got a lot of practice ahead of me.

Forgot to mention that is chambered in .308.
I've got an assortment of various ammo to work through, but if anyone would be willing to recommend a particular brand/load I'd appreciate it. Maybe one for paper and one for hunting?

I have a 308 load for long stuff…
Be careful- it's not in any manuals. It's probably smart to start lower than I did with your charge weights.
The cartridge length is important with this one, too- gotta be 3″ plus to fit all the powder in there. 3.004″ is just where my seater wants to put em, and I'm not going to complain given its performance.
208 amax in CBC brass (don't laugh- they work!) over 48.3 grains of Reloader 17 & cci br2's- loaded at 3.004″ coal. I started @ 48 grains & worked up to 49 (popped a primer there & backed off). I ran 48.5 grains for awhile at 2640 fps, but it would pop primers if I fired more than 10-15 rounds in a string. It was holding .5-ish moa with that load. I backed it down to 48.3 & now it's .18 moa- I haven't chrono'd it since, but the dope hasn't changed out to 430 yards.
It's really hard on critters- they've all fallen over on the spot- no trackingThere's a bit of recoil with this one- just sayin…

Thanks for the input. I'm a ways away from doing any reloading, but I'll save that info. for when the time comes.

Our chambers are that deep for these 208s?
