This is a question I have as well…
I am debating weather to go with the A-7 or tikka in 300 WM
Any opinions?
Not really worried about the lugs -

You must lap even tier one rings, the polymer inserts are the only exception

I use DNZ mounts on 4 of 6 of my rifles. You still have to lap them but they are solid and nice

The Berger loads are your best option- you will be looking at a significant learning process if you want to match those rounds. If you want to do that then I applaud you- I would start with the same Berger bullet and work from there

I have several tikkas and it is my experience that the excellent barrels don't require much “break in”
From a practical standpoint, clean em after 5 or 10 rounds, do it again after 20 more and then treat the sako barrels like any hunting rifle.

I dont use ultrasonic cleaning on my brass- it might be nice on a dirty bolt or or trigger group…

I realize this a late reply
MartinJ – Beretta (Tika) is not interested in dealing with handloads – in fact mentioning handloads may void your warranty if you send it in (tho im not sure). You have some options since all Tikkas are basically long action.
The .260 is a short action cartridge (like the .308 win), but the action can handle up to 300WM. Get a long action bolt stop ( or grind the short one you have see youtube) and use 30-06 mags for your .260 if you want to use longer OAL cartridges.
Not a perfect solution but this is one option that will fix your problem. -

I have 2 of his gen 1 .223 mags and 2 of his gen 2 .223 mags and they are both first rate! They use factory bottom metal and work well with MT bottom metal. They are all anodized aluminium and well made. I can only assume the long taper (read 6.5×55) mags work as well and are well made.
He has worked hard on refining his designs and he accepts no mediocre products. He is a talented shooter and competes here in the states often.
look up on youtube : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LcBNMFjadlg
good video on the fight for gun rights in AU.
Remember his prices are in AU$ so not as painfull as might be first percieved.
I have pre-ordered several mags including the long taper (for my 6.5) and -06. These mags will also work for some other cartridges but contact him at is email in above post. -

I got my 6.5×55 here (Kjergaard in MN) (sp?)
This is my fav rifle – it's a Tikka Sporter that I put in a Berserk stock.
Love it and got my last deer with it. -

Are you looking for bargain rings or high end rings?
Regardless of the price you should figure in the price of lapping them. A lapping bar will cost between $30 and $70 US dollars but is neccecary for any ring set aside from the polymer insert types like the Burris options.
For example I paid near $150 for a set of monolithic aluminum rings that should have been true by any measure. I started to lap them and to begin there was only about 30% contactWhat I mean is you can't trust the name, you have to measure.
To be clear, the polymer inset rings are ok to use without lapping, but not as sturdy as a good lapped set of quality rings.

Ok to be clear we are talking about a tikka 7mm mag
With a 9.5 twist
The eldx's are new and we don't have definitive data on them.Look up http://www.ballisticstudies.com/ to get real world performance data on bullets
I think that is link, I'll check and correct soon
