Shot the CTR this weekend to test the new stock. Very happy.

POI change from factory stock to Boyds was almost 1″ low and 1″ left with sighter.

Not that bad, I was expecting it to be off by a lot more.

Adjusted scope and shot a 3 shot group..This rife is used for hunting so not worried about 5 shot groups.

For the the rear stud…remove and epoxy fill the hole and install it on the side.

These work great on synthectic stocks.

That 7mm Mag barrel will be pretty hot after more than 3 conservative shots. <font face=”inherit”>Not uncommon for this caliber to lose accuracy over a string of multiple shots especially if </font>shooting<font face=”inherit”> a lite barrel. </font>

Try 3 cold bore shots and report back.

Any of the big names for rails and rings will work just fine but get a 20MOA rail…

This is pretty much my setup for my long range guns…no issues at all but Tier 1 mounts are pretty nice to have if you want to spend the money.

Its really the other way around…

Tikka rifles are basically a stripped down where they can cheaper version of the Sako platform.
Sako offers both a true long and short action where Tikka is built on a long action.
Sako has other improvements on the bolt, and gives you a 3 position safety where Tikka is only a 2 position.

– Good barrel life…expect close to 2000rds depending on how hot you are loading.

I hope they go to a full plastic or carbon fibre mag on the CTR platform.  The metal mags are greatly overpriced for an item that rust very easy with a terrible spring.

One thing to add…if you do this…in my experience, you want the pillars slightly shorter then spec for pillar bedding. If not sometimes the action will only be in contact with the pillars sometimes suspended off the inletting and not setting uniformly.

I’ve never experimented with a floating none fixed pillar…
If not epoxied in place I’ve only done a press fit which is a pain in the ass.

If you do this with a floating pillar, let us know how it effects the gun for repeatable performance.

Do a Berger seating test for any projectile after you find a good node  / charge weight…easy peezy.
If you don't have a bullet comparator get one!  Pointless if you don't have one for accuracy shooting.

I've set them with quick set epoxy on the coupe of stocks i've done.
Just drill and the scratch the surface with with a good low grit sand paper for the epoxy to hold well.
Assembly the action and bottom metal with 35 in/lbs when the epoxy starts to set up and won't run any more, but is still soft…this will allow the pillars to slide if needed to… Read more

My vote would be the Leupold between the 2 options…

Cutting a barrel down 2″ or so (if done properly) will not degrade accuracy or cause enough velocity drop for you to worry about…barrel lengths are just optimal industry standards for projectile / propellent burn rate.

45-65in/lbs with metal mag bottom / trigger guard

There seems to be no exact # but this is the norm.

You will love that stock on a hunting rifle… it’s a good upgrade to the factory stock without adding noticeable weight.  I had my 308 Battue dropped in one and it makes a great carry rifle / bush gun.

Depending on where you are located…any store carrying tikka rifles should have them.
Cabela's and Bass pro will have them in stock for sure if you are close to one of these locations.

The 308 mag is used for 6.5 Creedmoor…You can get the factory mags from just about anywhere but try Mountain Tactical for their new billet aluminum mag…

Would advise a higher magnification because i know you will want to stretch that rifle out at some point…
Take the hit in the wallet now versus later when you buy a 2nd scope.

Mountain Tactical from my knowledge does NOT offer a billet 223 magazine…only 308 short action and 30-06 long action cartridges…You are stuck with the factory mags or other aftermarket offerings for 223.

I agree Eric there are other a few other powders that will do the trick.  Varget will perform very well in the 80gr projectile weight range and its even listed for up to 90gr projectiles as a top powder performer…so if not Varget them something with similar burn rate I would still recommend.

Most of us have only went as far as the 80.5 berger for testing but i would think the 8 twist will handle the 85gr given the design of the ogive.

We've had great accuracy with the Barnes TTSX 165gr for factory ammo if you looking for options.
1-2″ @ 200yrds consistantly.

I use the Sig Kilo 2200 and think it the best range finder I've ever used for the money…the ballistics app is also good with it paired to the range finder.

Thats in/lbs not lbs….thats not an uncommon torque spec for this bolt or assembly.
No different than an action screw directly to a chassis…metal to metal contact.

M6 x 20mm trigger assembly screw has a recommended torque of 55-65 in-lbs to the action.
Aftermarket trigger manufacturers are also recommending this torque spec in their replacement kits.
