Its been awhile since I’ve posted anything. Hope everyone is doing well in this crazy world.
I recently ordered Boyds Spike Camp stocks for 2 rifles that I plan to hunt with this fall and wanted to ditch the factory synthetic stocks. Didn’t want to drop a lot on money on stock like I have for my more target shooters, just something to make the rifle more pleasurable to carry and to too if a cheaper option stock will hold the same accuracy or improve it.
First off I was concerned and hesitate to order the stock but decided to go ahead considering the Spike Camp stock is only $99.00…so I placed an order for 2 with the optional 1″ recoils pad to give me a longer LOP. Waited a month for them to be delivered to Canada and just recently fitted them to both rifles.
I was totally surprised with how much I like this stock as soon as I held both rifles. The vertical grip they designed into this stock is great and I have big hands, a concern when I ordered them, but it fits me great. Shouldering the rifle is a big improvement over the factory stock and shooting position and form is improved. A total win win that I was not expecting. The over all fit was great and the channels were great, totally free floated to the action.
I’ll post a follow up review when I get a chance to shoot them but so far it was a great purchase.
Take a look at the pictures, I think they look great.

Shot the CTR this weekend to test the new stock. Very happy.
POI change from factory stock to Boyds was almost 1″ low and 1″ left with sighter.
Not that bad, I was expecting it to be off by a lot more.
Adjusted scope and shot a 3 shot group..This rife is used for hunting so not worried about 5 shot groups.
First group with factory Hornady 178grn ELDx ammo was .3″…pretty good!
All other groups shot about the same to .5″, consistent 1/2 moa groups on the day with this ammo.
Have not run any handloads through the rifle yet so have high hopes for 1/4 -1/2 moa with my loads shooting the same projectile.

Glad it worked out for you , it’s always satisfying when a ‘cheaper’ option works out

Totally surprised it worked out as good as it did. I had pans that I would immediately pillar bed the stocks to start off but for know will just shoot as is. The 308 accuracy with the Hornady ELDx is spot on, just so happens to be my go to hunting round so happy about that. Will try some of the proven handholds for this barrel later this fall.
Testing the 300wsm this weekend. Hope it shoots as good with Winchester Deer Xp.
