It would be very easy to just buy a 25-06 or a 270 and send it off to JES to get rebored to .280.  It will cost 250 I believe.  I had him bore a 35 whelen from a 30-06 and it shoots awesome groups.

This not a bad idea at all. Now I just need to know who JES is and how to contact them/him.

Great looking rifles Twins. I sure wist there were more of them floating around. Dog Down you ask me if had loaded any of the brass you sent me and I have loaded it but not made it to the range. Twins I am glad to hear your gun likes the 165s. I have loaded 168 Berger HVLD to try in my WSM looking forward to trying them soon.

After further inspection and a phone call the rifle turned out to be a 658 and it is not drilled and tapped. I think I may pass on it.

I sware looking at the pictures of this 695 it does not appear to be drilled and tapped for scope mounts. Surely it is.

That would be most generous of you. If you can I will gladly pay the shipping and pay you for the brass.

Eric I did try a 165 and had one decent group with them. This gun is going to be a deer rifle onlym, and I live in East Tn so long shots are not likely. If all else fails I will try some 168 bergers that I have. But if I can get the 150 Barnes to shoot that will be my deer load.

Well I made it to the range today and I am pleased with the way my rifle shot. I don't have any pictures but my best group with the Barnes 150gr TTSX was probably an inch and an 1/8 at 120 yards. and I am sure I can get that to tighten up with a little more tweeting on the load. You guys are right these Tikka rifles will shoot.

I know that I too have read that there is a second sweet spot for Berger bullets. I have always had success seating them against the lands but in many guns today it just not an option.
