Action screws
Posted by WGK on March 19, 2015 at 5:07 amI recently traded for my first Tikka from a friend,he took the gun in on trade and like me knows very little about tikka rifles. Upon inspection I noticed that the action screws are slotted and not torx screws. From what I read on this site that indicates that my rifle is a little older. My question is do I need to replace these screws or are they just fine.

Screws are fine but good replacement screws are available on MT site and I plan to get some.

I picked up a set of the hardened screws from MT. I'm not looking back. I stripped out one of the factory ones torquing it down to 35 inch pounds. I'm hoping it was either a soft screw, or a really sharp bit, but either way, I got the first set of hardened screws they shipped.
