I would either try a different brand of primer or buy some factory ammo to try out first before changing anything on the rifle.
Are you sure the primers were seated fully?

Very nice looking rig! Did you have to bed the action into the stock or does it come properly inletted?

Welcome,
And yes, we can still have bolt guns in australia LOL we have heaps of guns on offer here for the right purpose. If our purpose is to mass shoot innocent civilians, they draw the line there and we can't get our hands on semi or fully auto (without genuine reason – proffesional pig hunting is the only genuine reason for semi auto). I think fair enough. We have no need in this country for anything bigger the 30-06 really (large deer and large pigs). We don't have to worry about big dangerous cats or bears, so there is no need for hand guns either. We have it really good here actually, very safe country gun wise, but we still have great guns that perform very well for their intended purpose. I actually think Australia is one country that got the gun laws right. Just hope it stays that way, and PETA don't convince the Gov. to take them totally away.
Wow man! You sound like you've been brain washed. Do you protect your self with a bolt action rifle? I guess that works if you can identify the perpetrator from a distance.

Since Tikka rifles are guaranteed to group 1 MOA as they are, just what sort of precision are you hoping to attain?

I'm shooting a 260 Rem in a Rem 700 type of rifle. I'm using the 140 grain bullet with H4350 and running about 2750 fps.

I have a Vais on a 300 Win Mag and it works very well. I have a friend that has a Holland on the 338 Win Mag and likes it.

Is there suppose to be a picture posted?

I'd suggest shooting it as it is first. You might have to dial your load in for that rifle.

Sounds like you're ready to go when the rifle comes. Please post a picture when you get it together. – Todd

Will you be hunting or target shooting with this rig?

For some reason, my old eyes have trouble with the black background and white text. It really places a strain on them. – Todd

I think the Tikka Store has some higher rings available. Otherwise you'll have to buy a scope rail and then you can install whatever rings you want.

I'm not familiar with the Tikka S3 model. Could you post a picture or a link? – Todd

I've got a T3 Varmint in 22-250. It's been a 1/2 MOA sort of gun. I've shot groups less than that but I can count on 1/2 moa. I did some load development early last year and posted some results here:
I've been using the Sierra 55 gr HPBT Gameking and Varget powder.
I don't think you can go wrong with the .223. That's a good cartridge.
