New member from Australia
Posted by teekay0 on September 15, 2013 at 10:33 amHi guys
I'm from Brisbane AU , looking forward to reading some posts and learning all i can on the Tikka's
I just got my 1st Tikka
T3 Super Varmint .260 rem , so love it 🙂
I also just moved into a new house and haven't had a chance to set up my reloading bench as yet.
But I was Kleen to shoot it last Friday at range , I went out and bought 1 box of thencheapest ammo,
Remington lok core , and it shot just under MOA with factory ammo, I was wrapped.
Can't wait to see what it does with some Barnes 120gr and hornady 140's
Cheers

Welcome,
I just joined myself after purchasing a t3 super varmint in .204, awesome, shot 0.9 MOA with factory rounds!
I am from melbourne, just need some better weather on they weekends, and she will be shooting great. And yes, we can still have bolt guns in australia LOL we have heaps of guns on offer here for the right purpose. If our purpose is to mass shoot innocent civilians, they draw the line there and we can't get our hands on semi or fully auto (without genuine reason – proffesional pig hunting is the only genuine reason for semi auto). I think fair enough. We have no need in this country for anything bigger the 30-06 really (large deer and large pigs). We don't have to worry about big dangerous cats or bears, so there is no need for hand guns either. We have it really good here actually, very safe country gun wise, but we still have great guns that perform very well for their intended purpose. I actually think Australia is one country that got the gun laws right. Just hope it stays that way, and PETA don't convince the Gov. to take them totally away.

Wow man! You sound like you've been brain washed. Do you protect your self with a bolt action rifle? I guess that works if you can identify the perpetrator from a distance.

Yeh, i can see what you mean by brain washed, and I know it must look that way from the US, but we don't have a fear complex or right-to-carry-gun culture here. Our gun culture is purely for hunting and control of animals. Our violence involving-a-gun stats are extremely low. In general, I feel that if someone was to mug/threaten me, it would definitely be without a gun. And I thank our laws for making that so. You can get illegal guns here, no question, but it is a very difficult to do so, and a real step into the world of criminals. There are HEAVY punishment for those that do carry/own/possess an illegal fire arm. I have seen those videos on Youtube of guys walking down the street with an AR15. It is completely ludircius that laws, rights and fear in general can allow that on any level. Take away the reasoning, the political issues surrounding it, the fear, the “i must protect my self” mentality, and what do you have? You have a guy walking down the street with an AR15, there is no way that can be seen as totally ok once the bull crap is removed. Guns are not around every corner here. We feel we don't have to protect ourselves against them generally. So, I can understand, from a US point of view, considering your cultural back ground, and the general sentiment of fear and “your rights”, I can see how it would look brain washed, but we are truly not. The stats speak for themselves. I am an avid shooter, but I really think the laws are perfect here. I get to use an excellent gun, perfect for it's purpose. I have no need to slaughter innocent people, or hunt bears, or protect myself against a non-gun wielding maniac, so I can't own an UZI/revolver etc. How ever, I do have a need to slaughter foxes and rabbits due to the recognised damage they do, and I can lawfully cull, so I am allowed a huge selection of appropriate guns. I think that is perfectly legit. I hope that makes sense.
