Duds/misfires with T3
I have a used T3 Sporter in .308 and when it fires, groups are pretty tight(5 shots w/i 1.5 inches) however I have had a few duds(like 8 in 175 rounds) with Remington 9.5 primers. The previous owner said he had about 500 rounds thru it(he did not report any misfires). We checked headspace with an RCBS precision mic and it was fine. I took apart the bolt. The firing pin and bolt internally were cleaned and lubricated(nothing unusual found). My friend then chambered(sans bullet/powder) one of my duds and it went “bang”. I tried the same thing for the two remaining duds I had in my possesion and NOTHING!
Do I need to measure firing pin protrusion? Or could the spring be bad? Bad patch of primers? I do have some hard to get Federal 201M primers that I want to try.
I was reading online about a few Tikka owners that had some perplexing misfire issues. Has anyone had this type of problem…any solutions? Thanks all
