Newbie chamber questions
Posted by sicigpat on June 6, 2013 at 11:28 pmHi all,
I recently purchased a Tikka t3 sporter in .223 and plan on using it for NRA highpower competition. It has the 24″ barrel with 1/8 twist. It's currently at a gunsmith.I'm having the barrel turned down at the muzzle to .750 to accept standard sight bases. My gunsmith recommended converting the chamber to a wylde chamber. Can anyone advise if this is necessary? I usually shoot at a 200yd reduced course but also shoot out to 600 yds.I usually load 24 grns of reloader 15 under a seirra 77gr matchking bullet, lake city brass and rem 7 1/2 primers.thanks for the input.Patricksicigpat replied 12 years ago 4 Members · 5 Replies -

Hi
has far I know , you only need the Wylde chamber if you intend to shoot military 5.56 has it has a higher pressure , you can buy (in the England) 5.56 cheap , but has you do you own loads , IMHO there's no point in doing itLarkin

I'd suggest shooting it as it is first. You might have to dial your load in for that rifle.

Wylde chamber is NOT neccessary for your purposes. Go ahead and shoot it.
