I see a LH t3 Hunter in .204 at europtic but that has a light barrel – I would check with Mountain Tactical and see if they can find one that fits your needs.  Good luck,

Yep, lower the bolt handle on an empty chamber while pulling the trigger to unload the firing pin spring.

  If I store the bolt separately I will manually twist the shroud to de-cock the firing pin spring, you may need the plastic wrench tikka includes with the Sporters (or something similar if you have a MT bolt shroud) to re-cock the bolt before you put it back in the rifle.  You might be able to rotate the shroud back to cocked position with your fingers if you have the hand strength.

The only cleaners/lubricants that I use on my bolt guns are Butch's bore shine, hi-slip moly grease for the lugs, and some generic light gun oil for after I deep-clean the bore every few hundred rounds. A nylon brush for the chamber can be helpful, and a quality brass jag for the bore. Get a one piece cleaning rod and a bore guide, and you're set.

I do experiment with other products but butch's is a favorite of mine (I use Boretech extreeme eliminator for the barrels through which I shoot moly coated bullets).

I plan to get one of Nathan's brakes for my 6.5 eventually, mainly to see if I can spot hits with heavy 140 gr loads.

Wow! You picked at least 3 of the options on one of my dream builds, namely the Manners stock, thunderbeast suppressor and the Vortex gen II Razor.  I have a Mack Bros. 30 cal suppressor tax stamp pending – I plan to put it on my 6.5×55 T3 Sporter.

Thanks Larkin, I just ordered a set of steel IOR tactical rings (blemished) for $70 that seem to be of adequate quality and a bit shorter than the Reapers! Since two of my rails are MT hard steel (I believe nitrided so very hard) so I shouldn't have to worry about steel on aluminum wear- at least on those rails.

Witt Machine makes an inexpensive brake that I used on my 30-06 (clamp on style). It was very effective if a little bit bulky.  They make a thread on version also:

They supply crush washers to time the brake (since it vents on top and sides but not bottom).

I just ordered a brake from mountain tactical for my -06 since I was having the barrel threaded anyway.

Very good prices on his brakes if I recall.

I mention these other manufactures in case you want a directional brake rather than the radial one MT offers.

You have a nice rifle there.  I have limited experience with Boyd's stocks, namely the pro-Varminter I got for my savage B-mag.  I was frustrated with the amount of fitting I had to do to make it work, but in retrospect the B-mag is a horrible rifle to fit a stock to.  It can shoot ok, but the design makes for difficulties… Anyway I have moderated my concern about Boyd's stocks a bit because some shooters claim they work well.  They are inexpensive so most can afford to give it a try, particularly if you want to try something different (like a thumb hole stock).  You will probably want to epoxy bed the action and recoil lug and there are some good threads on this site where that was discussed.

Good choice on rifle and caliber.  As far as accessories go- I like the Addmount flip up lens covers- very tough and well made.  I also like the biathlon type slings. They keep your hands free for carrying your stuff from station to station at a match.
