Favorite Rings?
Posted by Ericbc7 on June 25, 2016 at 5:23 pmHi All,
I have had some good reults with DNZ Freedom Reapers in the past and I like how the one piece design lets me keep the scope in the rings while alowing me to swap rifles & scopes with minimum fuss. What I don't care for how high they place my scope over the center of the barrel.
I see a lot of what appear to be Seekins 2 piece rings mounted on precision rifles and was wondering if I could still leave the scope in the rings, swap rifles & scope without adjusting the rings relative to each other (most of my rifles have picatinny rails).
Thanks, -EricEricbc7 replied 8 years, 6 months ago 3 Members · 4 Replies -

Hi don't see a problem has long as the rails / rings are good quality ones and you use a torque wrench

Thanks Larkin, I just ordered a set of steel IOR tactical rings (blemished) for $70 that seem to be of adequate quality and a bit shorter than the Reapers! Since two of my rails are MT hard steel (I believe nitrided so very hard) so I shouldn't have to worry about steel on aluminum wear- at least on those rails.

Eric,
I bought my first set of Seekins matched rings 3 years ago. I now own three sets. One of their best features is that they do not need to be lapped. They have not scratched or marked my high dollar (for me) scopes.
You can easily swap the scope onto another rail without loosening the rings on the scope, Only if your rails have the same spacing in between slots. I have an AR rail on my 6.5 Grendel that has wider spacing than my tikka rails. Otherwise, Swapping scopes with these rings between my tikka rifles is a breeze.
Two of the sets I purchased through vortex. They buy Seekins rings then stamp them or have them stamped by Seekins with the vortex logo. Vortex almost always has them in stock. The Seekins stamped set that I ordered from their website took a couple weeks to arrive.
I'll buy another set for my next scope.
