The Hornady 53g VMax didn't group consistently. Around 1.5MOA. Plenty good to take on sage rats…but I want better 🙂

The Federal Premium 55g Nosler BT rounds didn't do much better. Dropped two almost in to the same hole, and had three fliers about 3/4 inch around that.

Any recommendations on other factory loads that I should try? I picked up the Hornady V-Max 53gr rounds, looking to try others.

Have any of you guys tried .223 Hornady 53gr V-MAX, #8025? How'd it shoot?

The Hornady ammo it didn't seem to like were factory loads, Hornady #80275.

Prolly want us to buy the more expensive Sako or Baretta's own rifles. Who knows. The real irritating part is there doesn't seem to be any way of getting around it.

Beretta USA only imports a portion of the Tikka line, unfortunately. They don't seem to have much drive to make happy customers.

If the 8″ stamped on the side of the barrel means twist, the .223 Varmint I bought through the group buy last January has a 1:8 twist. Or am I wrong?

So the order was from mid January and I forgot what all I had ordered. So…a Mountain Tactical picatinny rail was included. Does that mean I can get by with mid rings? Or should I still order high ones?

Never did see a reply on which height rings I need. I did end up buying a Leupold VX-3 6.5-20 50mm. Still waiting on the T3 to show up.

Will medium rings be high enough to mount the Leupold scope with a 50mm objective on a Tikka T3 Varmint?

I want to be able to do target shooting at long distances (scope might end up on a 243in the near future), so think 6.5X20 will be fine.

Aluminum work-hardens and is dented easily by the steel barrel/receiver. I'm curious why Tikka doesn't go with steel in the first place.

It could be threaded using a live center on a lathe…not sure what it would look like though when done as the threads would be straight not tapered. It's perfectly doable though.

I don't believe so. 1:10 is the only version imported. You'd have to get a re-barrel or buy used.

Hrm…Tikka guarantees 1MOA. Seems like Beretta needs to stand behind that, being as how they are the parent company. Keep moving up the chain at Beretta USA until someone takes ownership of the issue. What you are asking isn't unreasonable.

What is the risk in removing those nubs?

I'm hunting high and low for a T3 Varmint or (preferably) Super Varmint in .243 as a starting point for a good varmint rifle, but evidently Berretta stopped importing them a couple years ago.
