What rifle would you pick on this group buy?
Posted by Ericbc7 on January 9, 2015 at 6:20 amWhile I haven't committed to joining this group buy yet (still frantically doing taxes) I totally want to.
I want a T3 Forest in 6.5X55 in the longest barrel I can get. This looks awesome and would fill the gap in my arsenal perfectly, but I don't want to go too far into debt. That said, if we could have gotten the T3 light stainless in .223 with 1:8 twist I would have pawned my TV and sold the neighbors lawn furniture to get that combo!!!
What would you pick?
Edit: Why in the heck won't Berreta or Tikka import .223 T3 lights in 1:8 twist?
What were the negotiations like? (If you can say without compromising the deal).7x57mm replied 9 years ago 6 Members · 7 Replies -

Hi for me it would be a stainless steel varmint in .308 and get it restocked with a Thirdeye tactical stock or a Roedale stock . Or a CTR In .308
Has for a 1:8 twist in .223 they do them on a special order , there that special that you'll have to wait years for the delivery if ever -

I found an 8 twist 223 super light at a local big name store awhile back….. And bought it ! Then I punched it out to 223AI. I'm diggin it so far! Just need to decide between the factory stock @ 7# & change, or the comp/tac at 8 1/2#. Here's a couple teaser pics.
For the GB, I'm trying to whittle away from the following list:
7-08 compact- punch it out to 284 & run 162 amax's for elk hunting (long miles, loads of vertical),
260- or 6.5 swede forest- nothing bad to say about either- and the T3 action is about perfect for a swede!
204 compact- gonna be a collectors item I think,
260 ctr- just to stomp custom rifles at matches.I think it'll be at least one of the 6.5's (260, or swede), and good chance of the 7-08 (I have a pile of amax's). It could be a broke spring for me after this….

I'm hunting high and low for a T3 Varmint or (preferably) Super Varmint in .243 as a starting point for a good varmint rifle, but evidently Berretta stopped importing them a couple years ago.

well i had to pass on the group buy, I console myself by repeating the mantra “debt is bad, debt is bad…”
its not helping much, but I would love to see your new Tikkas and accessories(and maybe some targets!).

Being free of debt is the only way to fly.
That said, a nice longer barreled Swede would be very cool when you get ahead, money wise.
Of course taking a standard bolt face T3 and rebarreling to 6mm Remington Ackley Improved would be very, very cool as an all around gun from ground squirrels to deer.
