There are many advantages of using an FFP scope for long range hunting and target shooting. Why wouldn't you have any use for an FFP scope if you're shooting long range?
I have this reticle and it works at any magnification:

I can scale my targets at any magnification. If this was an SFP reticle it's pretty well useless to have division lines. That being said I wish my scope was a 25x not a 15x because at 300 yards I can't see the holes I'm punching in paper and therefor cannot measure distances with my reticle.
An SFP scope would be useless in all but the 1 magnification so it gets confusing trying to scale anything.
I have quick detach Leupold rings on my scope which will be great if ever I purchase another rifle. I can remove the scope in seconds and it seems to keep zero, so that may be an alternative to spending another $750 on a dedicated scope.

If it was my gun….
Considering the issues, I would try returning the gun…if thats not possible I would bed the action and recoil lug in another stock.Â
I still think its worth trying another stock and recoil lug. Like I said before, I can help you with that if you are in the Toronto area. We can bolt up my 300wsm factory stock and shoot it to see what it does.
Let me know if i can help.I contacted Tactical Ordinance to see if he was interested in bedding my gun but he doesn't do hunting rifles, just tacticool stuff. Do you know anyone else who might be able to bed my rifle in the GTA?

The lug is loose in both the stock and barrel.

Yes there are aftermarket bottom metals for $200-$300 but I'm not sure you'd be saving much on mags after that lol.

Gotta say Lumley Arms is trying to make it right for me he will send me an oversized lug if I give him my address. I ended up ordering the Mountain Tactical version and they say its .240″ so that would give me .002″ play between action mortise and lug.
How much play do you recommend between the lug and action. And why should there be any play???
I looked up devcon and it looks like they have many types of glue. Which one should i use?

Alex, Did you try to discuss this with the vendor or the manufacturer? Were they helpful and/or try to give you full refund before you start trashing them on the forum?
I'm not trashing anyone I simply stated the truth: sloppy fit. Doesn't mean anyone did anything wrong it just means the product isn't fitting in my gun. I understand everything has tolerances, maybe my gun was machined a bit wider.
I did contact them both and CoreTac offered a full refund. Lumley also replied and offered to send a slightly thicker lug from one of his first batches.
I bought some feeler gauges and the .004 fit perfect so a perfect fit is .242″ (my mic was off and the actual measurement for the new Lumley lug was .238″)
Would it be a bad idea to glue a steel shim to the new Titanium lug and drop that it? I bought crazy / super glue in hopes I could solve the free play issue this way.

I haven't tried the gun with the new lug and I don't really see the point.
Six replies and not a single one with measurements. If anyone out there has a dial caliper, could I get the stock lug thickness and if you have an aftermarket one, that dimension as well? Thank you!

Will tikka do anything about a damaged recoil lug? Do they have difference sized lugs? I don't quite understand if everyone has the same problem why would they make it this way?

Any updates on your hunt for sub moa?
Have you tried removing your muzzle brake to see if your accuracy goes down again? also curious to know if it (the muzzle brake) scuffs / scratches your rifle.

You don't need to get a new mag, you can easily modify yours. There are writeups on how to. You can pull your mag apart if you look at the two pins on each side near the bottom. I pried mine apart using my hulk strength 😉
I don't have a 243 so can't help on oal length. I'm sure all tikkas are close to each other but it's a good idea to get 5-10 measurements.

Dog down!
I purchased my flash hole deburring tool today. I removed a total of 2 grains of brass from 90 bullets. Hopefully that makes a difference!

The hodgdon reloading data centre must specify IMR4350 and H4350 loads separately for a reason. They have different velocites, so I would guess there is a difference somewhere. Differing granule size makes sense, since they do share the same MSDS sheet.
