Just purchased an M07 and need mounts. can any one tell me if the dove tail is the standard Tikka width and therefore will Warne Tkka QD or fixed mounts fit?.
So that we are talking about the same thing: Your Tikka M07 is a combination gun? If so, you have 11mm dovetail on the receiver. Other Tikkas have 17mm dovetails, so mounts made for them will not fit. If you want fixed mounts on it, most 11mm mounts should fit fine; However, take the gun with you to the store to be sure. If you want to keep the access to the irons (like I did) you want QD mounts. They can be ordered on-line, for example from the company I mentioned in my earlier post. For any QD mount, you also have to have a slot milled for a recoil stop/index pin on the receiver. Indexing the mount on the rail will lead to problems. If you want, I can send you a photo of the mount, and the milled slot so you can see what I mean.

That looks like it. Any idea when 66, 67's made? Thanks
I did some research few years back, and if I recall correctly, M66 came out in 1966, M67 a year later, and M07 in 1970. The serial numbers would tell the full story, but one needs access to a book called “Arma Fennica,” which I do not have.
For general interest, please post a photo of your combo. If you find that the rifle impact point “wanders” between shots, let me know – I have a few tips that may correct it.

Perhaps a licensed version of Tikka M66/M67, or the later M07?
I've got a M07 that breaks down in seconds to three small sections, and always goes “camping” with me… .

To all T3 fans: Check out the QD mount from the same manufacturer on my T3 Battue Lite:

Also, the manufacturer has gotten feedback from North America, and now is in the process of setting up a an option for direct purchase from their website. Thanks to all who sent them e-mails! Perhaps tikkaperformance shop should look into starting to carry these? It would not help us Canadians, though…

i ended up ordering a Leupold VX2 and Optilock rings and bases.
im kinda curious why the pin in the optilock bases is much smaller than the drilled hole in the receiver?
i assume i mount it with the pin in the hole and pressed as far back as possible?Good choice on the scope and mounts (btw, a quick “no thanks” on CGN would've been polite…)
As to the recoil stop pin, it's diameter is fine as-is. However, push the front mount base FORWARD as you install it. I hope the following description will help:
The fired bullet and the burning gases propelling it result in a force driving the rifle backwards (towards the shooter.) The optics and the mount each have their own mass, which want to “stay put.” This results in a force “pushing” the optics and the mount forward. However, these will start moving backwards as well. As the shooter absorbs the recoil, both the optics and the mount remain mass in motion backwards. This secondary inertia is much less than the initial force, so it puts less strain on the contact surfaces between the rifle and the mount, and the mount and the scope tube.
The pin is there to deal with the with forces stemming from the first motion only, and it does not need to be a “tight” fit. So, when you install the front mount, put forward pressure to it with your thumb, then tighten the mount screw to the recommended torque settings. As to the mount screws, they have to be tight, but do not over-tighten them either.

… im trying to figure out which mounts i sould go wit, it seems like Optilock is everyones answer…
… I just posted something related to this in the “Equipment Reviews,” check it out. I now have two removable mounts, one with Leupold VX-II 1-4×20, the other (now) with Nikon Prostaff 4-12×40. First for hunting, the second for plinking at a distance (if you can call it that with a 308 Win… .)

Better late than never…
T3 Hunter is available with open sights, at least here in Canada. If you end up getting one, a great mount option is MaSi QD mount. I have two for my M55, giving me the choice of two scopes and irons.
