Removeable ring mounts
Greetings to all;
Couple years back I decided to scope my old Tikka M55 308 Win., using Optilock mounts. Great mounts, but like with other permanent mounts, I lost access to the irons. See-through rings are not my favorites, and I did not want to install Weaver or Picatinny bases on the rifle, if at all possible.
By chance, I came across a removable mount on the net from a small manufacturer in Finland. These mounts are not currently sold in North America, but I managed to get them here through buddies in Finland.
In short, these mounts are superb! Aircraft-grade aluminum components with black anodized finish, hefty screws (metric, but the tools are included!) The best part is that the one-piece base and the rings are SOLID. Installation is simple, and the scope tube actually aligns the rings upon install. The manufacturer (smartly) recommends using a torque-driver to snug up the rings. They make the same basic mount for M65 and the new T3 models as well.
The reason I’m posting this is this: If the manufacturer gets enough interest from this side of the Atlantic, they may make the product available here as well. If you could see using these on your Tikka, send them e-mail!
In the case posting links to manufacturers' websites on this board is not allowed, I did not include it here. However, go see my short video on youtube for a demo: youtube.com/watch?v=GvLThkseZTU The manufacturer's website can be Googled with “Ma-Si QD Mount.”
And before anyone asks: Yes, when re-attached, they do return to zero (or as close as I can tell with my shooting skills,) and no, I’m not associated with the company. This is just a functional, well-designed and finely made product that I can recommend wholeheartedly to others!
