I just got my T3 Varmint and finally got the scope mounted as well as getting it broke in. After that I shot some 69 gr SMK's and they were 1/2 moa or under at 100 yds. So that was OK. It didn't like the PMC and other factory 55 grainers at all. Then I shot some 75 AMAX's that had different loads of Varget in them ranging from 24 to 24.3 grains. Six shots were (along with me jerking in a .525 group and 4 of those were in a .320 group and three were in .220 group. I know I wasn't holding any better than that. I moved on the shot that made it a .525 group. Given that the loads were a variety of powder loads I was pretty happy and so now I know where to start. The reason the loads were a variety is that I dropped the box of ammo at the range and of course couldn't tell which one was which after I picked them up.

Well I already have the 20 MOA mounted and wouldn't probably do it again. I think I would instead do a zero rail and do +10 through Burris Zee Rings and that way I could easily switch to another rifle. Thanks for your input, I think you are right but on another Tikka I don't even shoot that far and it gets close but then the scope only has 40 MOA

Well even though the bedding was done by someone you trust, I think that is the issue especially since it does it consistently. Something somewhere is expanding when it gets to a certain temperature and then exerts pressure on the barrel. I'm not an expert, but that is my opinion. Do the groups look the same each time when it does it? It could also be that there is some stress in the barrel itself that causes it to bend when it gets to a certain temperatures. 🙁

I would get the number for customer service from Beretta and see what they will do. My grandson has this gun in a 300 WSM and it's a tack driver.

Well I just purchased the same gun in 223 and have to say I'm impressed with the solidness of everything. I'm looking forward to breaking it in and am debating whether to mount a 20 MOA rail on it before I shoot it or use a 1 Inch tube scope for a while first.

Base on this review, the actions are all the same and the bolt movement is stopped earlier on short actions.

It will either be a Vortex Viper PST SFP 6 x 24 or a Leupold VX II 6 x 18. At least that is what I'm thinking now. I already have the Vortex.

I would strongly recomend the 8 x 25, If price isn't an option, go for the Mark 4 it will give you more options and not have to be at the highest magnification setting all the time. I also have several Leupolds and wish that some of them had greater magnification. The other thing is that if you're going out to 500, having target turrets can be very beneficial.

I have one more question. What kind of bipod is that on the Tikka? I don't recognize it and it looks pretty solid.

I also use Winchester Brass and varget, I sometimes use Federal Match Primers but have recently switched to CCI 450 which have worked very well for me. I will likely use federal Match on some of the 75 gr loads to compare with the CCI. I have used 69 Gr SMK's with good success, but they do not have a high BC so not sure how they will do long range. (i.e. past 300 yds)

First of all thanks for the response, it is helpful. What bullets do you use when you shoot out to 800?? I'm getting ready to load some 75 Gr. Amax's.
I really like my T3 lite and am hoping the Varmint will shoot as well. I load a lot of loads single shot now & that really helps accuracy.
What is the Super Varmint?
