270 wsm T3 Lite Question
I would like to begin by introducing myself. My name is Chris and I am a relatively novice shooter and hunter so I will apologize for my lack of knowledge in advance.
Last fall I purchased my first hunting rifle. I wanted a flat shooting cartridge that I could hunt most game on this continent with. After some research I grew fond of the 270 wsm and subsequently purchased a Tikka T3 lite in the caliber. The glass I chose for it was the Leupold VX-1 4-12 x 40mm. I love the gun but have run into accuracy issues. This was especially alarming to me as I chose Tikka for their accuracy. I have put around 100 rounds through it of various brands and grain ammunition with similar results. To this point the best 100 yd group I have achieved was with Nosler 140 gr ammunition, but it was still almost a 4 inch group. I have spoken to countless people regarding this issue and everyone has a differing opinion. I have recently purchased some Federal Fusion 150 gr ammunition that I hope to try today and see if the results are better.
I have taken the stock off and ground off the rest nodules that were touching the barrel in hopes that it may help but it doesn't seem to have made much diference. I am also trying to find a lead sled to rule out the shooter as the problem which is possible. I was in the past however able to shoot a 30-06 in the same manner and achieve under 1 inch groups.
Any advice you all would have would be greatly appreciated and I look forward to learning from you all. Thank you.
