That's one of the main disadvantages of forums you don't know what people has available in there country or the personal circumstances, and the written word has a hard edge

When you get better scopes the glass improves greatly on the light transmission front letting you to shoot in very low light conditions  at the beginning and at the end of the day ,  when a lot of the game is about , if you really want to see what good glass is have a look through a S & B pm 11 , I thought my night force was good but when you look through the S & B its in a different class , and when I was shooting my Ar 15 which has a S & B Zenith 1 x 6 hunting scope on , the ability to catch the light was amazing, with the naked eye I could only just see the target through the darkness , but through the scope it was easy to see it

Hi for your budget have a look at Vortex or the NEW Minox range there a great improvement on the old ones , if money was no object for hunting it would have to be a Zeiss V8

One thing I have heard is if you're in America you'll have to watch the load of factory ammunition , as a lot of them for the American market have been reduced  . This is to stop some people loading high power loads intended for modern rifles been put into historical rifles that cannot take it

Tikka Shooters Forum favicon icon 296 Bullseyes

Hi I use a brush , patches and bore tips to clean my St/steel barrel , and I use frog lube on my tikka and my lantac Ar , everyone on here will have an opinion on cleaning and what products they use , the main reason I started using frog lub is it's none toxic to my dogs and it works for me , I know some people who wouldn't give it house room , when I started shooting they was just a couple of people at my club who's opinion I valued , but everybody as there own way, find someone who you trust and ask them , it's normally the quiet person just getting on with his shooting that I ask and not the loudest person who thinks they know everything IMHO
In the past I've also looked at barrel manufactures website to see what they recommend for there own barrels

Hi I was shooting a Mauser m12 in 6.5 x 55 at the weekend the recoil was easy to manage it was more like a firm push and straight back on target the .260 is probably very similar but in a short action where the 6.5 x 55 is a long action the only difference between them I think is the bolt stop

Hi it might be worth looking at a semi custom rifle using a Tikka action that way you're getting the rifle you want and not paying for anything you are going to change

Hi cannot help on availability in your part of the world  but that's a great caliber my next build is going to be around a stainless steel super varmints in 6.5 x 55 , but it's taking a back seat as my competition  gun needs some addition sights along the lines of trijicon red dot sights and there's only so much money I can divert from doing up the house lol

Make sure the rounds are pushed all the way to the back of the magazine when you put them in , last time I was at the range my started not to feed right from my AI magazine it turned out to be my fault and being lazy and not making sure the rounds were pushed to the back , I think it was because I was shooting with some people I hadn't shot with before and had half an eye on them to make sure they wasn't doing anything unsafe

Hi don't know about the bolt face , but you will get the chance to try lots of barrels , has a guess you'll be changing them out every 700 to 1000 rounds imho that's if you're going to use it to its full potential
