Tikka fluted bolts
Posted by mr_miagi on March 14, 2015 at 3:31 amHi all,
I have just recently bought a Tikka hunter 223. I would like to know if anywhere in Australia sell Fluted bolts for them. I can find pics as attached but no shop that sells them.
Thanks

I don't think the Tikka bolt body is a swap over piece like on a savage so you'd need to get it fluted by a gunsmith… probably not a cheap job, I'd say maybe anywhere between $150-250 in Aus

Ok no disrespect, but I have no interest in fluted bolts. What is the advantage?

Ah I hear that Larkin, sorry if my post seemed bit “snarky”. I just re-read it and apologize. Back to topic… Doesn't putting flutes on a bolt attract grit?

It won't attract grit, but it does give somewhere for the grit to go when it gets in there. It also saves a little bit of weight if that is an issue and it looks good too. Most custom actions have flutes of some kind, which can't be an accident.
