Don't apologize… That's a sweet looking rig!

I went with the Vortex low tactical mounts. They work well but I will most likely replacement them with mediums to shoot prone more comfortably.

Here's the 223 prototype. I've put almost 500 rounds through it with minor hiccups. They will all be worked out prior to production.
The Stock Problem:

The Solution:

The first pic is an 80 grain A-Max loaded to the lands and the second is an 80 grain Berger VLD loaded into the lands at over 2.4 inches with plenty of room to spare!

I'm at least two months out. In fact, I'm loading up for the range right now to do some more testing. The 223 mag is almost ready and I'll post some pics up soon of the prototype.
The challenge has been making the design work in an easily machinable format. Cutting a nice big cavity like in a mag is not as easy as it looks on paper. 😮

The Roedale system is almost a “No Gunsmith required” bottom metal and is still limited to SA.
Not to mention it is pretty expensive to get here in the US!
It is a very well made piece of equipment however.
If we end up with a long action solution machined as well as Roedale's, I will be a happy man and you guys will be happy Tikka Shooters!

I'm currently testing two different options to solve the magazine delima:
-New bottom metal in both long and short that will accept AICS mags, or
-New magazines that will work in the stock bottom metal that will accept a longer COALIn either case, we created a new bolt stop that will allow the bolt to come all the way back for the 223 and 308 family of cartridges.

Hakan,
Thank you for the honest and direct feedback. This is what we need to make the forum better!
1. Spammers were getting through until about 10 days ago. New members now have to go through a screening process before they can join the site. Since implementing this, no spammers or bots have come through.
2. The JOTD and QOTD were an experiment by Greg and I agree, very few people actually read it. I'll work on a solution for this as well.
Thank you for the feedback and I encourage more as we fine tune this space.

EJG is a stock designer on the site and makes some incredible composite and carbon fiber stocks for the T3.
Some of his comments can be seen here: https://tikkashooters.com/public_html/index.php/topic,228.0.html
Hopefully he chimes in here can add more to the discussion.

Well put!
Iceshooter was looking for some of this information as well so hopefully he see this.
Thank you!

I like the Wheeler FAT wrench myself.
Used the Weaver one and broke two of them the two times I used them. I returned them and paid the little extra for the Wheeler one.

Hi JDBoy
I was about to do something similar with my 270 wsm because extended shooting sessions were getting to me (and I'm not a small guy!). Prior to filling the fore stock and butt with shot and Devcon, a customer recommended I try the Limbsaver recoil pad.
That pad reduced the recoil significantly enough that I abandoned the idea of adding weight to my stock.
Maybe try that first, then try adding weight.
Brakes are nice, but as I stated they are loud! Supposedly, the new clamp on brake by Hinterland will not shift POI, but I am skeptical. Tomorrow I plan on testing one to see if my skepticism is warranted or not.
Hope this helps!

Here is the link to the bolt release from Brownells.
http://www.brownells.com/.aspx/sid=60090/pid=31611/Product/S5850255_RELEASE__BOLT__ASSY__TIKKA_T3
The description is terrible but this is the correct part. The kit comes with both the long and short action bolt release as well as the necessary replacement spring and rod.
The MFR Part Number is: S5850255
Hope this helps until I can get ours into production.

This is a simple replacement of the bolt stop. Beretta sells the bolt stop through Brownells for a pretty penny. I'll look up the part number and post it here.
As part of the new mag system I'm working on, I figured I would manufacture a nicer bolt stop here in the US to cut down on cost.
