Aftermarket Aftermarket Aftermarket
Posted by southwind on August 29, 2011 at 2:24 amI wish there was one good source for all things Tikka T3. Shrouds, bottom metal, magazines, bolt handles, scope bases, stocks etc….
Are there any US mfg's making anything?

Really, that would be awesome. I think there are plenty of items to sell and customers in the waiting. Best wishes, I will keep an eye out for it.
Great rifles, with a lot of potential for upgrades.

Great Jason.
I think this is crucial for making the T3 more popular, seems like the number of products availbe for a model is a very important part for many new users. What do you intend to make?
Bottommetal? will you make bottommetal with long mags?Håkan

I'm currently testing two different options to solve the magazine delima:
-New bottom metal in both long and short that will accept AICS mags, or
-New magazines that will work in the stock bottom metal that will accept a longer COALIn either case, we created a new bolt stop that will allow the bolt to come all the way back for the 223 and 308 family of cartridges.

Jason,
PM me or email me about DBM. I have some input after using the CDI SA DBM that *might* be helpful.

As I see it it's not possible to use long AICS mags in Tikka as they are far to long.
On the other hand they are only single stack and a staggered long mag would be much more interesteing.Håkan

Håkan,
Jeff @ CDI says it can be done. He's been working on it for wuite some time and keeps telling me that it's *almost* done, so maybe I should believe it when I see it. There are some things about his design that are not ideal, but one “OK” LA DBM for the Tikka would be better than “0”.

The Roedale system is almost a “No Gunsmith required” bottom metal and is still limited to SA.
Not to mention it is pretty expensive to get here in the US!
It is a very well made piece of equipment however.
If we end up with a long action solution machined as well as Roedale's, I will be a happy man and you guys will be happy Tikka Shooters!

Hey Jason, what is your time line for having some of these items released?

I'm at least two months out. In fact, I'm loading up for the range right now to do some more testing. The 223 mag is almost ready and I'll post some pics up soon of the prototype.
The challenge has been making the design work in an easily machinable format. Cutting a nice big cavity like in a mag is not as easy as it looks on paper. 😮
