I would not return it unless you can’t group properly.  If you cant then definitely return it

If your rifle is not the best of all options then return it.  If you can group 3 shots in 1 inch then keep it. If you can keep shots in 1 inch …. you are good

Ok I love the the 6.5×55
You can find any number of reloading data on the internet
You can target the Lapua load data for a starting point

One other thing I want to clarify is that I am not a “young “ person . I am a middle aged (52) human.  In America, until your 62 you have no safety net health wise.

Larkin, you are the best, I have gleaned so much good information from you that I feel guilty for providing info that you are the source of ultimately.  Also I am embaressed for my grammar…. Take care my friend

I should come clean and acknowledge how sparse my help has been, dog down has been the councilor that helps most, with all of us relying on Larkin

Now if you go to the next step and buy Lapua 6.5 creed brass you are getting small rifle primers.  260 brass will be large rifle and I kinda lean to that for precision.
So to be clear, dogtown is correct, I am not wrong, what the heck? Lol there is no “clear” here .
If you have a 260 – great if you have a creedmoor nice you have more options if no more performance.
    Good luck !

    Ok some real world numbers
    Prime ammo prices for
    260 vs 6.5 creed
    260 = $320 per 200
Creedmore =$260 per 200 and creedmoor goes on sale occasionally
Same bullet close to same FPS
If you have disposable income be my guest to buy a 260.

Dogtown is as always good to listen to
My only reply is regarding ammo.  You can get on sale 6.5 creedmore ammo from prime ammo on sale and it is the very best
You can also get 260 ammo from prime but it will cost much more for the same bullet weight.  I have never seen 260 ammo on sale from prime, creedmoor goes on sale a couple times a year.
This is not a comparison between the calibers, just an observation. Both using 130 gr nosler Golden bullets.

I shot my last deer with prime ammo and it was not spectacular.  On the other hand the loads 6.5 creed were first rate

I bought some great mags from that Australian guy and have one from Jason at mountain tactical.  They all work well but the mt’s are a bit tippy.

Not to denigrate dogtown in any way, but I’m not a fan of the 260.
It’s a short action 6.5 and does a nice job with short bullets due to the short action.  The 6.5 creed is also a short action with less case capacity but has a better ability to use longer bullets.  If you do a custom build then by all means go for the 260 but for most of us I’m leaning to the Creedmoor with its factory ammo and 100-250 less FPS.
I may be wrong on the FPS so do the research.
My opinion is get the long action and the 6.5×55 or a wildcat using its case.  Even move up to the 6.5×284 with good brass (Lapua) and load down to save the bore.

    Caliber?
.224 is almost always 1/2×28, I had a 30-06 slim barrel threaded to 9/16 but that was a custom job.

Hey tikkafin, I hear your pain, this is the problem with pawn shops. They play with the merchandise even though it’s ”sold”.
The good news is they have not shot it (probably) and your rifle is likely as good a performer as it was when you put money down.
The best ammo for a Tikka 243 is in the “less than 100 grn” range with its 1:10 twist.
You will have a great rifle with ok wood. Don’t be afraid to cancel the layaway if the wood is important to you.

Great job Jason, i hope your not losing money on mags because of internet nonsense.  I like your mag and I will post a review when I can.  I’m so busy with work that I can’t promise a time but I will say now that you have made a very sweet looking and perfectly finished magazine!!!
My only concern is the the follower seems a bit “tippy”for my 6.5×55 tho it works well for 4 shots.
