Quality is very good.  I just replaced all the rail screws on 4 guns with torx head weaver screws.  Fit was great.  Better than the slotted or allen heads for wear.

Here's my T3 Varmint with a Viper HSLR 6-24 x 50mm

The rings are Med PRW's @ .97″ …same height as the Vortex MED match set you mentioned.
The rail is a 0 MOA Mountain Tactical…”Cut to receiver length”…lots of room for scope movement front to back…I could easily get away with a low ring @ .87″ with this setup.  You should be able to run a low ring even with out cutting the rail but you will be limited to scope position. 

Depending on where you place the scope for your shooting position the objective bell on the Vortex 6-24 x 50mm scope with a full rail and “low” rings may contact each other. 

I use MED rings for all my rifles because its more comfortable for prone shooting in the field.

I agree with Eric's comment to a point but there are exceptions to every rule or thought…

My point on why SD is still so important to pay attention to…
Take 2 – 50rd ammo boxes (reloads) into consideration.
Shooting 5 shot groups (10 groups per box) @ 300yrds so we can fully see the effects of ES…which box do you think will produce the best groups?

Box 1 – Your reloads consist of 48rds @ 2500fps with only 2rds @ 2600fps (SD = 19 / ES = 100)
Box 2 – Your reloads consist of 25rds @ 2500fps and 25rds @ 2600fps “mixed” up in the same box (SD = 50 / ES = 100)

Box 1 – On average you should shoot 8 “great” groups and 2 average because the “lot” is consistent.
Box 2 – Good luck picking 5 rds with the same fps!!! The odds aren't in your favour at all for even 1 good group.  Box will most likely produce 10 average groups…

Increasing powder charge in .5grs is good for finding a node but you will not find the sweet spot.  Smaller increments around a node will fine tune the load.

Based on the info in the PDF…I would load 6-9 rounds of the following and reshoot in 3 shot groups.

53.3gr / 53.6gr / 53.9gr / 54.1gr / 54.4gr

Every Tikka I load for likes full – compressed loads.
And every gun we shoot with a sporter barrel like 3 shots as fast as you can get on target and fire or groups fired from a completely cold bore / semi warm barrel (meaning you can't use it for a hand warmer!)

Waiting and taking time to aim with a sporter barrel will cause your groups to open up, especially on a warm day…the barrel will be at 3 completely different heat temps for each shot.

Fire 3 fast or wait for 3 cold bore shots on each group…

There's a lot of things that can effect your group size and fps with reloading…top 4 for me would be:

– Inconsistent setting depth
– Inconsistent brass trim
– scale / powder charge – if you aren't using a digital scale get one…
– ***ream and deburr flash holes on all brass***  very important this is consistent to lower SD on reloads.

What is you ES & SD for the rounds you chronographed?

You are using good brass and the primers are good so its powder charge or your reloading techniques.
You are right in saying that some batches of IMR is inconsistent but that would be more from manufactured lots running at different times during production stages, not from the same can on your reloading bench.

H4831 or H4831sc is our go to powder for 270 reloading…its also the best powder for my 300wsm loading and we use it a lot with 180gr bullets in my buddies 30-06 as well.

Thats great, I'm assuming no pressure signs yet?  How were the groups?
I've had really good accuracy with this bullet using other powders but I have some Benchmark on the shelf that I may have to try, thanks for the load data. 

Here's a chart showing what your drop looks like with 23.6gr of benchmark.
Really good out to 400yrds – 500yrds…but then starts dropping fast.

I have 2 versions, both are great.

223 / 300wsm – Vortex Viper HSLR FFP 6-24 x 50
308 CTR – Vortex Viper 6.5-20 x 44

Shot this load out to 900yrds this past weekend…firing at a rock face across a small canyon from an elevated position on the opposite side.
The load held sub MOA even out to 900yrds in a slight wind.  Maybe 5mph at most with some gust to 10mph.  Out of the 3 rifles on the hike (223 Tikka / 30-06 Browning / 7mm Mag Browning), the 223 was the most accurate with some impacts seeming to hit exactly the same spot. 

Hoping to take pictures of the impacts on rock face the next time we are on that side on the canyon.
Got some coyote calling in as well…can't wait to take a dog with this load at long range, but no luck on this trip.

53gr Superformance Hornady shoots very well in both 10 & 8 twist barrels.
Fast pill will decent ballistics for just about everything.

I've had no issues with my 300wsm feeding various ammo with different COAL's…
Got about 750rds through it…

Its possible it doesn't stabilize till after 100yrds, but you would think the group would be still be smaller at 100 or open up at 300…Theres even a 8-9″ drop in elevation at 300 if zeroed at 100,…so theres a lot happening between 100-300yrds with that load.

I don't think we have all correct data needed…if we had group pictures at 100 and 300 for exact measurements and to see how the bullet is impacting the target it would make it easier to determine what's going on…

Is it possible your groups are 1.5″ at 100 and say 2.5″ at 300?  Are you measuring everything perfectly,
Or just eyeing it and guessing?  A triangular group pattern is deceiving sometimes if not measured on all 3 sides.
