Well!  Bought a tap from Brownells (6-48).  Carefully chased out the threads, and the screws installed perfectly.  Read somewhere that Tikks threads the holes, and then machines the grooves on the top surface of the receiver.  This distorts the threads/holes.

SO, IF YOU ARE INSTALLING A SCREW DOWN SCOPE MOUNT, CHASE THE THREADS FIRST!

Well, the metric screws EGW sent me will not even begin to thread.  Looking for a #6-48 tap to chase the threads.  Will report back.

EGW sent me a set of metric screws, and they definatelty DO NOT fit.  They bind after 1/2 turn.

They did say Tikka plastic plugs (fill the empty screw holes) leave residue in the treads, and that may be what is binding the screws.  They suggested running a tap through the holes to clean them out. (#6 x 48)  Have one coming Monday

Sent the stock back to B&C for the recoil pad repair/replace.  I asked how much to add a second swivel stud.

Never heard back, but the stock returned 10 days after I sent it in.  New recoil pad, new paint finish, and new stud.  No charge 🙂

I noticed when I disassembled it that the rear most part of the action is compressing the stock before it contacts the aluminum bed.  I'm going to sand it down slightly before re-assembly.

I started using the OEM rings.  I took them off because of internet reading, and I like a 1 piece.

I bought the DNZ for mine (I have a VX3 on mine).  It uses the screw mounts though.

It's a grind to fit pad.

I contacted B&C about buying a new pad.  They gave me a return authorization to have it replaced under warrantee.  WHOOHOO!!

I have that same stock!  Great shooting after putting it on.  I want to bed mine for the best accuracy.

One problem I had, was the toe of the recoil pad broke.  Don't know if it was shooting on bench (recoil contact?), carrying while hunting, or on my motorcycle to get into the hunting area.
Anyone know what mosel number the recoil pads are?
