You can also change the recoil lug for a decent one from mountain tactical while you have it apart ,

Hi you are correct in your thinking , remove the material to make sure the barrel as no contact with the stock all the way to the action, the rifle might have been return to the store because it didn't shoot too well , all because of this contact

In opinion all factory barrels need breaking in , all custom rifles with a custom barrel don't , the breaking in is to reduce the tooling marks associated with mass manufacture

For a scope have a good look at the Minox range , several of my friends are swapping their S&B pm11 for Minox Zp5 , I get to use a lot of the high end scope and for my money the Zp5 is outstanding if your budget is not that high have a look at the other Minox's there made to the same standard but built in China , or the next step down have a look at Vortex , I am looking at one at the moment for my Lantac Raven Ar15

For me then if I was keeping the stock , it's down to which feels the best in your hands , i would be changing the recoil lug to a after market quality one on a t3 or t3x, I don't think the bigger ejection port will make any difference to your chosen caliber , and I've still got the plastic cover on the bolt after 4 year of shooting , so like I said its down to which feels best in the hand

It also depends what your going to do with it , like are you going to put into another stock , if you are I'd get the t3 and put the saving toward a scope ( Minox zp5 )

Hi you have done the right thing with the recoil lug , my guess is it's mainly down to the barrel not being fully clear of the stock , have to test to see if the barrel is floated when it's hot , 2 shots are on the money then the 3 the barrel has got too hot expanded and is touching the barrel at the well documented pinch point at the front of the stock ,
Wait for the lug get it put in take it shooting and then check the clearance -

Looks like I'd need all types of export/ import licences as its a ' tactical' firearm so I'll just have to pay

Ok thanks looks like .308 then, my ticket is away at the moment for another .223 to be added , they can be funny about people having two of the same caliber , if they turn me down I'll just change it to .308 and then start saving up for one of these and a good scope , I wonder if it would be cheaper for me to get a plane ticket over to mountain tactical to buy one and import it to England myself , it would be interesting to find out the different costs involved

Hi has anybody seen anymore info on a release date / availability and calibers , hope they decide to make it 30 06 , I shot this caliber a lot in different rifles lately and I prefer it over a .308 as I think it has a better recoil
