Tikka T3 CTR Stock Not Free Floated?
Hi guys, I'm an avid pistol shooter who just got the urge to reach out further. After quite a bit of research I found what I think will scratch that itch and I picked a used (new in box with stickers still on it) CTR in 308 and topped it with a Burris XTR II 4-20×50 FFP with Farrell rings. I ordered a few different boxes of factory match ammo and I'm pretty excited to get out to the range this weekend and put some rounds down range.
That all being said, I noticed that when I try to run a dollar bill underneath the barrel, it gets stuck about 3 inches from the action. I removed the stock and noticed two marks on the barrel where the stock is rubbing. Does anyone know if that is normal the the CTR factory stock? If not, do you think it would be ok to remove some of the stock material to free float the barrel all the way to the action? Or, am I just over thinking this because I'm all excited about getting into long range shooting.
Eventually, I would love to pick up a Manners T4 stock, but, I have to let the wallet (and my wife) cool down a little.
Anyway, thanks for any help and guidance you provide!
Jason
