Ok when I burn out my barrel I want a YukonAl lug with a 30 in good barrel.  $800 to 1 k is about what I will pay. (Cheaper is better)I might go $1200 but at some point I can't make good on my credit card.

I plan to buy a box of 20 cheapest rounds and plan to cut the neck of one of them so I can use it as a marker to set the bullet to lands measurement.  All using the Berger 140 hybrid.

I'm buying rounds since I cannot make myself damage new Lapua brass.
So anyway, the breakin will be a couple shots then clean, then again until 20 rounds gone.

Then I plan to switch to moly coated if I can.

YukonAl, what would you do? I'm open to other plans.

I just got 500 Berger 140 gr hybrids  and am leaving them bare until I hear what best practice is.

Biased opinion, get the non illuminated Vortex PST 4-16 for best value.

    Lifetime warranty

Just switched my Vortex pst 6-24 with my 30-06 (from my T3 Sporter in .223.)  Not as close as I hoped but still good.  I recommend buying the good rifle, and investing in the scope once and if your shooting habits fit.

Most of those groups rank well in my book, what did you determine?
What I noted was that your best groups had consistantly vertical.  What do you conclude?

Wow, that sort of failure seems to be primer related.  Meaning you might have had a defective primer.  Normally in an overpressure situation you see a piercing in the firing pin indent, where the primer cup is the thinnest at the time of the firing pin strike.  The damage to the bolt face is not structural and won't cause accuracy issues I bet.  You may see excessive wear due to the damage but should not see failures.  Check the fireing pin for damage.  Maybe pop off a few empty, primed cases to see if all works as should.  Then look at your load and see if you are pushing things too close to the limit.

You should get a dozen loading screen from good brass at least, if you are getting less then your load may be too hot.

Update with no new info lol.

I have been on that “internet” getting components and such, Lapua brass is backordered for arrival in August (sigh). Thanks for the scope advise Larkin…I kind of leveraged myself on this purchase so plan to use my Viper PST that currently sits on my .223 Sporter.  So I am also waiting on John to get me a gen 2 pick rail so I can swap the scope without major fiddling.

I also ordered the recoil lug and a shroud so now I have to perform lol.

At this point all I can say is that I love the T3 Sporter and will do my best to promote the 6.5X55 SE.

Also just received 500 140 gr Berger Hybrid 6.5s and am expecting 50 Barnes 127 LRX .

unfortunately North Dakota requires that buck tags be applied for in June (I think) so I missed that, but I may get a doe tag for this fall.

Even if I can't get a deer this year I should be able to get some steel targets, so keep an eye on this post for updates!

Sorry I'm not familiar with that model, is it the same as the T3?
Or do you mean the tikka 595?

hey thanks Larkin!!  I plan to put a mountain tactical +20 pic rail on this so i can swap my Vortex PST scope between this and my T3 .223 sporter.  next year I plan to get a dedicated scope for this honey! some day i might even get a shmit & bender lol – although it seems crazy to pay twice what the rifle cost to aim it…

Little bit disappointed on the fit of the cheek piece but very happy with it in general.

I will post all my load development when i get the components and dies in.  Not planning any factory loads in this one, Sako rounds were $38+ for 20 !! starting with Berger 140 gr hybrids and Lapua brass when it gets here.
