So far 2015 has been kicking our butts with growing pains.
The year started with us losing our head machinist and his Haas VF1 which we used manufactured a majority of our parts. Jason has a Mini Mill that he uses for prototyping that we have been using non-stop to try and keep up with demand. It is just too slow.
We have ordered a $95,000, decked out Haas VF2-SS with a 4th axis that should be here in a couple weeks. Needless to say we are very excited to get this new machine in our shop as it will be able to produce product at least 400% faster than the old VF1.
Additionally, our stock worker has been overwhelmed by our demand for him to make stocks. This is a great problem to have! However, it has turned into extremely long delays as he has struggled to keep up with our community's desire for more Tikka products.
Currently we are in the process of purchasing a multi-spindle CNC stock router to move production in-house. We have learned over the past few years that no one cares more about our customers and the quality of their product more than us. In order to keep turn times to a minimum and quality high, all manufacturing needs to take place under our roof.
Our business has grown 180% year over year, on average, so we thought we would have no problem getting our small town bank's cooperation in helping us with this expansion. Simply put, because we work with firearms, the banks do not want to touch us. This has required us to look at more creative ways to fund all the new tooling.
While going through all of this, Jason has been in and out of the hospital with severe stomach pains. This week he went under the knife to have his gallbladder removed and is currently at home recovering.
Right now, every ounce of our energy is being poured into getting caught up on back-orders and putting quality products into your hands.
All we ask is for you to please be patient with us as we grow. We will be caught up and ahead in the next 4-6 weeks. Then we will be able to launch some new products that you have been asking for.
Thank you for being the best part of our business! We truly appreciate the support you have provided us over the last 3 years from a 3AM crack-pot idea to the largest supplier of after market parts for Tikkas in the world.
We have quite a few products we have developed that we plan on launching as soon as we catch up on current production. Here's a sneak peek of our 2015 product line-up.
