Hard to tell from the picture, but it looks like there are 2 shadows that might indicate an uneven metal grain which might be weaker than designed. In any case if you return the bolt to Berreta for repair you might want to avoid mentioning the aftermarket accessories.

This one is tough to answer definitively as several things could contribute to degading accuracy in a 25-06. Any idea how many round this rifle has fired? I would like to look at the bore with a scope to eliminate throat erosion as a source of inaccuracy. Check the recoil lug for damage and consider an aftermarket harder one. Experiment with torque on action screws and certainly look at bedding the actin in the stock. Even if it is advertised as a drop in, the B&C stock may need some fitting for best results.

Hey Al, I don't have any tools, to speak of (not even a decent vice). I saw your posts on bedding and want to follow your take on tikka stock mods. All of my concerns are based on your reasoning and posts. I did follow your recommendations on Devcon and the results were perfect. I particularly found your recommendations on doing bedding in steps helpful. I followed your advice and have no complaints on the results!

Ok so you are putting the Varminter in a berserk stock? Sorry if I misunderstood. That would be an awesome combination (sorry for the American “awesome” statement”).

I use Earnie the gunsmith varmint springs when I want to lighten tikka springs. I have 3 Tikkas with those springs and they work great.
What I don't have is a trigger pull measurement tool. -

Beautiful rig Blue, sensitive question…how much ? And did you lengthen the travel on the bolt stop to allow for longer seating? If you did file the bolt stop, do you recommend shaping it to the long action so it picks up rounds from the factory(various manufacture) mags? In other words, do folks that modify the bolt stop want to take it all the way back? As opposed to just giving enough travel to pick up a round.
I suppose that unless you use a factory mag with just the front modified, you would have to shorten the stop all the way. -
YukonAl, is the action wrench a custom thing or is there a retail product? I assumed that a large screwdriver stuck in the ejection slot is a non starter lol.

You read my mind Dog, I plan to do just that: shoot the T3's withe the factory stock (particularly the -06) then swap stocks and using the same ammo, torque and bottom metal compare. The only problem is I don't have properly worked up loads for the 30-06 or the 6.5×55. I might use factory ammo (gasp!).
I swung by the local public range yesterday on my way back from picking up my new 17HMR (ISSC SPA which I am impressed by without shooting it yet) and it has been destroyed. Concrete table tops perched on sections of telephone poles are upended and the range closed…sigh.
I do most of my testing at a private range near my parent's place 150 miles away, but it roeally makes me sad to see how little some folks appreciate public facilities.
I say it's public but it is maintained by a local sporting club, and people insist on bringing improvised targets like old televisions and even exercise equipment then leave it for the contracted farmer to ruin his tires when he mows. Take out what you bring in folks! ( I know none of you contribute to the problem but I wanted to rant a bit).
Anyway, testing is on my schedule Dog, so put your order in now and I will try to justify your purchase to your significant other lol.
P.s. The berserk's grip has a slight cant -presumably like the Bolthorn and it fits naturally for me.

I just received my Berserk Stock from MT and it is a very nice piece of work!! Cheek piece and But pad adjustments are crisp and there is no wiggle. It comes with a recoil lug installed (I forget what it is made of). Now I just have to decide which of my T3's to put in it!

Hi Dog, when I get a chance I will try it on all my T3's; 30-06 hunter, .223 sporter, 6.5×55 sporter and when it arrives my .223 light
It looks like a very clean inletting job and I think the slender barrels will not look out of place. The MT bottom metal will make a very clean install. Also my silver anodized .223 10 shot mags will look great. Pictures will be forthcoming…

Those plugs can be a pain. They are soft plastic and I have had a couple that were so stubborn that the screwdriver blade chewed the top of the plug off. I just took a smaller screwdriver with a thin blade and rapped on the handle to drive the screwdriver into the soft plastic, then backed out the plug. don't worry too much about salvaging them.

Dog is right, the gap is not inherently a problem, I just thought is was uneven – possibly suggesting something was off kilter. My eyes may have been fooled by the angle of the photo. If it shoots well, then don't worry much.
