Yes one action length ,the bolt stop is were the long and short action come into play .Hope this helps . 😉

Took the tikka 260 out today and man is it a shooter ,MOA at 100 yards . 🙂

The more I think about it the more I may leave it as is .

Remington makes a model 7 260 with 20 inch ,I have seen a Tikka 7mm-08 in 20 inch .

If I cut two inches that leaves 20.5 should be enough in 260,what do you think ?

I think the 50mm will give me more light and help my old eyes see little more .They are both very clear scopes with great warranty .

Going with Leupold vx3i 3.5x10x50 instead of Meopta 3x9x42 .

My cousin has two 7rem  mm and has shoot that rounds maybe twenty years now for deer hunting and has great things  to say about the round ,he said if I see it I can shoot it  175 grain Winchester power point .

Going to be a deer rifle so maybe I can get by with that scope .

Good looking setup ,DNZ is all I use .

I,m sorry you are having so much trouble ,this is my 1st Tikka so I guess I,m not much help .I hope my 7mm-08 shoots good .I guess you looked to see scope mounts are tight and all action screws . Good luck wish I could be of more help .

I would take it back to dealer and let Tikka take a look.One thing comes to mind ,look at the crown and make sure it is ok.
