Help with t3x 6.5 Creedmoor
Posted by Vince80 on April 25, 2018 at 8:56 pmI’m new here and was hoping to get some insight on my first tikka. The bolt doesn’t want to cycle properly with federal ammo and the best I can get the rifle to group is slightly over a inch. I sent the gun in and was told I can’t expect the rifle to cycle with all brands of ammunition which really surprised me. They fired 3 shots and said the gun shot 900 thousandths of a inch group. They sent a pic of the group. The pic was sent in a reduced picture but it matched the groups I shot which were slightly over 1 inch. The grids on the picture measure 1/4 inch so the best I can measure and calculate they are slightly over a inch also. I was hopeful someone could give me insight on getting them to warranty the bolt and doubt they will do anything about the accuracy issue. I’m pretty sure I’m going to have to just sell this gun and buy something else but hope someone can provide some useful information so I don’t have to go that route

Hi great caliber , there’s been a few t3x of late that have been like your’s with one brand of ammo but ok with another , I agree it shouldn’t happen but it seams it dose , just try some other brands , has for accuracy it will tighten up the grouping when you find a load that the rifle likes , have you thought about reloading your own ,

I’ve tried almost every hunting ammo hornady makes. Two types of federal ammo Winchester ammo and the new Remington corloks that literally shot 6 inch groups. It’s cheaper to sell this gun and buy another rifle from a manufacturer then invest in reloading equipment and I don’t have the kinda free time to get into reloading although I’m sure it’s fun

I would take it back to dealer and let Tikka take a look. One thing comes to mind ,look at the crown and make sure it is ok.

I’ve already sent it to tikka. They said the crown was fine although the residue at the end of the barrel from the shots isn’t even and I wrote in the letter I included when sending the gun in that the crown didn’t seem write. From what I’ve gathered from sending it back and talking to customer service is that I’m pretty much stuck with what ever I bought. I’m going to try sending it back again and hopefully they will address the bolt issue. I argued with them on the phone for over 20 minutes and they said they don’t have federal ammo and it would have to wait until they had federal ammo but no idea how long that take because they only use what ever ammo is sent to them. It was a very odd conversation. I honestly don’t think they are going to do anything about it but I’m going to exhaust all options before selling it or having some one do the repairs that should be covered under warranty. I’m just very confused by the entire situation. If anyone has any advice on getting tikka to resolve the issues or something I can do myself to fix it please let me know

The 6.5 CM is ammo finicky – to say the least. That said any and all T3´s are quaranteed to have n under MOA accuracy for ”premium ammo”. Something´s wrong somewhere and Tikka/Sako ( or at your case Beretta US) needs to take a look at it.
