Shoot more and different ammo.  I'm sure you have by now. How did it turn out?

Yes, I have a Tikka T3 lite in 7RM. it likes 162gn A-max over 66gn IMR 4831  It's 3 grains over book so work your way into it.

Nice!  Have you tried the Berger VLD bullets at all?  How far are you seated off the lands?

I have not tried Berger in this one. At one time I did know how far off the lands I was with the sierra I use to use and I bielieve I was pretty close. The Amax is loaded to full mag length.

    I use Berger 87gn vld's in my .243. I tried a 140gn in my sons 7mm-08, didn't work so good.

I shot 1 6 shot group at 300 with that load, it was about 1 MOA. I was expecting a little better but I think i rushed it a little cuz the wind was picking up.

Yes I will hunt at range. Last year my furthest was 550 on an antelope not with this gun but with my .243.

My preference however is “OH shit! not enough time to cycle one in the chamber, better stab it with the knife.” ;D

No you don't need it. Your Vortex should have enough correction for those distances.

Still a Tikka but when comparing it to some other make and your say how much more accurate it is you have to disclose it has a different barrel.

When you get a new barrel and true up the action it falls into the semi custom category.

Check all rings and base screws as well as action screws. Also have someone else shoot it. Try a different scope as well. Make sure you let the barrel cool between shots.

My 7 mag I can shoot 3 or 4 shots in a row then it'll start throwing them.

Make sure you let us know how it goes!

Take it to a gun smith. $100 to $150 will get you one installed. It'll be seemless, much nicer looking then some bolt on job.

How is the new bolt? Does it slide as good as the original?  Did you look at just cutting the bolt handle off and threading it for the bigger handle?
