Hi, Moose was killed with 300 wsm, 165 sst. I have used 165 Ib and barnsx with good results. I have harvested numerous moose with the 154 IB in my 280 rem. I did take a cow moose several years back with my 7-08 and 139 IBs at 180 yards, bullet worked great. Numerous mule deer over the years. I would not hesitate to use the 7-08 on moose or elk at reasonible range. The 280 sends the 154 at 2900 fps and the 7-08 sends the 139 at 2950 fps. Jack O'conner hunted everything in north america with the 270 and 130 grains. Do your part and a well constructed bullet will do its part. 7 -08 is awesome.

Hi The COAL is 2.805 inches, the interbond seems to be a liitle more accurate than the 139sst. I aslo purchased a range certified wheatherby in 223, removed the Bell and Carlson aluminum block stock and replaced it with a boyds thumbhold. I had my gunsmith fit my 7-08 to the wheatherby  stock and had it bedded. I will attach a pic in the morning. now my go to rifle for 75% of my hunting, topped with leupold 4.5x 14x 40 VX3 with CDS.

I have  a boyds thumbhole on my 300 WSM, with a limb saver recoil pad, can shoot it all day. The thumhole makes it a pleasure to shoot.
